I have been through pretty much all the vitamin C DIY threads.
I am wondering if anyone has a recipe using just
L-AA, distilled water, propylene glycol, hyaluronic acid and ferulic acid?

Is it possible to just use those 5 ingredients?
Or If I use PG, do I have to use ferulic acid?
Could I just use L-AA, distilled water, PG and hyaluronic acid...?

My skin is fairly resistant. I am on retin a gel currently.

Yes, you could just use the LAA, water, ferulic acid, and hyaluronic acid and your Vitamin C serum would be preserved. I always store mine in the refrigerator and it does not appear to degrade (it does not change color and remains clear).

I have also purchased high quality Vitamin C serums and still prefer making my own LAA serum, from 2002.

I have successfully used those ingredients in a stable Vitamin C serum. I'm wondering if anyone knows what type of powdered zinc I could add to my daughter's serum to prevent acne. Would powdered zinc gluconate work? If so, how much in a 20% C serum (to which I now add powdered L-AA, E, resveratrol, and niacinamide (Vitamin B) and ferulic acid, plus Earth's Daughter aloe vera and a few drops of tea tree oil. I keep mine refrigerated except during travel, but my daughter might not. Thank you!

It would be more accurate for me to say that ferulic acid is used to stabilize vitamin c from oxidizing when exposed to air. Propylene glycol is used as a preservative. I have not used PG, but have not had an issue keeping my serum refrigerated.

You might see better results for acne from zinc supplements. Link to an article from Dr. Bailey's blog. She is a derm.
