Anyone else a lightweight like me when it comes to drinking? I can only drink one regular strength (not top-shelf, etc.) margarita (and nothing else ) and then I get wobbly. |

Aww... LOL. You're like my DH. It gets drunk really fast. Me, on the other hand, don't! |

I'm super lightweight when it comes to alcohol. I always ask them to go easy on the liquor. The other day I ordered a white russian, and I even had to ask them to add more milk or cream after I got my drink because it was too strong. After they added the cream, I still had to add a bunch of water to it to make it more tolerable.
Also I never get the buzz like other people get. I just get sleepy after I drink a glass of something that's not too diluted, or if I drink on an empty stomach. Are you that way, too, Marci? |

Yes, I do get sleepy. I have asked waiters to get my drinks made weaker for me and sometimes I swear, they come back wayyyy strong, like they are trying to get back at me Oh, and maybe my inability to hold liquor well makes me a little paranoid! |

Fall asleep at 6am? Do you work or are you coming home from work at 6am (night shift)? |

I had half a bottle of wine tonight with a friend, and I used to be able to handle that...but I don't drink much anymore so now I'm soooo sleepy and I've got pages more of cases to read...egh! |

I have an unusually high tolerance for alcohol although I'm small and asian, I have no idea why. However I do turn red very quickly especially when it comes to red wine. I'm also one of those people who CANNOT sleep after alcohol. Even if I get really buzzed I'd fall asleep and wake up completely refreshed and awake after 2 hours in the middle of the night and not be able to sleep again.
Man, I must be weird... |

What does it feel like to get the buzz? I don't suppose I'd ever know how it feels in this lifetime since I can't get past feeling sleepy. So I wonder if someone can try to explain the feeling to me. What makes drinking fun? |

Buzzed is when you're feeling dizzy, but not drunk. |

I used to be able to drink like a fish, but not anymore. Hard liquor gives me stomach problems. I stick to wine now. It takes two full glasses of something with a fairly high alcohol content (gotta be 12% or more) to get me starched. I suppose that's still pretty good? When I drank the hard stuff I could drink boys under the table. |

I remember when I could drink like a fish. Now I have a couple & I'm ok, any more than that I feel sick. Drink also keeps me awake, whereas the old man falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.
I liked it when I used to be a great drinker. I hate getting older. |

I think I'm one of those who can drink like a fish, to date I've never gotten drunk! I've tried drinking 6 full big glasses of red wine and 2 full big glasses of white wine within like 2 hours and I've only gotten a bit light-headed but I was still sober enough to do math questions (my lovely friends decided to test if I was still operating well ) and to take public transport home Alcohol doesn't make me high but rather sleepy so I guess if I ever drink enough to get drunk I'll just keel over and fall asleep That said if you wish to up your alcohol tolerance, space out the drinks and eat some biscuits/finger foods in between the drinks! |

I wish I was a light weight when it comes to drinking!
I only wight 115 lbs and can usually out drink anyone- althought I choose not to really drink anymore since my last drunken episode in Italy- I drank 3 pitchers of something called "blue lagoon"- it was about 75% alcohol and 25% water/juice- then proceeded to have 6 tequila shots, and half a pitcher of beer (which I hate when I am sober) and I can't remember half the night (which is the really scary part.
Luckily DH was with me and when I woke up the next morning I ached all over. I hade huge bruises on my shoulders on a big lump on my forehead.
I asked my DH what happend and he was just snickering and said, remember when you said you needed a little rest and was laying on the bench in the bar? Well you fell and grabbed one of our friends and he fell on top of you. So I thought- ok thats fine, but I remember falling backwards, not forwards- so how the heck did I get this lump on my forehead?
DH just kept smiling and didn't say anything. I knew something was up, so i pestered him until he finally broke down and told me.
Apparently when he dragged me and a few of our friends back to the hotel he first dropped me off at our room and laid me on the bed on my stomach and then put the metal garbage can by my side in case i had to upchuck.
I had passed out and he went out to help the others get back to their rooms.
So then when he came back about 15 mins later he said he saw me with my head in the garbage can on the floor, half my body was off on the side of the bed and my legs were in the air and it looked like I was trying to swim- and I couldnt get my head out of the garbage can--thats where I got the bump on my forehead and the bruises on my shoulders.
I could barely understand my husband as he was telling the story cuz he was laughing so hard.
I was really embarassed about this for a few months and told my husband that I would kill him if he ever told anyone. But now I'm over it, I can laugh at myself- and I promised myself that I would never drink that much again! |

I'm totally the same. Well, almost. I work in a club and drink most nights. I've had times when I just drank too much and got sick. Most of the time, I can drink til I get to a level of tipsiness and I can't possibly get pass that stage no matter how much I keep on drinking. I have trouble trying to go to sleep after drinking and when I eventually do, I only sleep for a few hours max and wake up feeling refreshed. I often wake up thinking "My god, I drank so much last night and I don't even have a hangover!" when in reality, I think I'm still drunk when I wake up! |

LOL I miss those days when I drank my guy friends under the table It's fun being a great drinker, but it sure is a lot cheaper not being able to handle so many drinks. |

OK I posted earlier how one glass of wine had me feelin' good...Well, b/c it's a PERFECT day in Chicago (75 and sunny), my DH and I had dinner on the veranda (aka the deck). I told the three yung'uns not to bother us unless it was an emergency. I had 2 - 2 1/2 glasses of chardonnay, and I'm sooo numb right now you could drill a tooth My whole nite's shot b/c I don't feel like doing anything productive. I did this purely for medicinal purposes ("Aunt Ruby" came today
BTW I had to retype practically every sentence in this post to make it coherent |

I know how you feel...I am a two beer queer, but I get red from any kind of alcohol. I don't know if you've ever researched it, but it's an enzyme deficiency that affects about 50% of Asian people. I'm only half Asian, so I had an even lesser chance and I still got it....my mom's side is Irish too. |

when i know i'll be going out to drink, i always eat a bit of fatty food before hand to help absorb and buffer the alcohol from entering my system too fast. |

LOL I don't eat much before going out but man, afterwards, I just can't stop eating! I wish there's Taco Bell here in Thailand. I'll be there all the time after a night out! |
