I've tried using pore strips on my nose (with visuably stubborn blackheads), it worked, I can see it stripped off as thousands of tiny backheads , after this I followed it with neutrogena pore refining essence. Afterawhile blackheads are there again, and so does the cycle of removing it. Some says not to use nose strips, as it tend to make the pore larger, is it true? |

Some have also told me to be wary of the strips because they do make your pores larger.
I find however, that the pores do become more noticible. I mainly attribute this to the fact that since the blackhead is gone, you can see the pore more clearly because it is now empty. Not sure if this is true but it seems to make sense. I just use a toner afterwards and then find that the pores will shrink back to normal again. |

Aussie_guy: Thanks a lot, I also think the same as what you explained.
By the way, how often should one do the pore stripping? |

So where do we buy the above product? Any recommendations? Can we get this online, drug stores, any cosmetic stores inside a mall? Any help will do. Thanks

Comedogel is a Phytomer product (it's also sold here at EDS: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/phyto.htm). If I remember correctly, a while ago Magda also recommended it as a spot treatment for blackheads on the nose |

Thanks, Mabsy - I went to the site, and boy there's quite several I have to choose from, unless there's one specific that I'm missing it. Forgive my ignorance, but is Comedogel one specific item or is this a group of Phytomer products? I was looking for something that will take away black heads or dead skin. Also I'm looking for a good product for my pores, it's not so much a problem but I'd like to have it either go away or make my skin a bit smoother. I'm using a Fruit Revitalizing from "Godiva Natural Skin Care" for my face then a moisturizer. I'm also like to use mask once a week, what do you recommend? Again something that helps my pores to either define it or go away. Thanks a bunch. |

not all pore strips causes large pores
choose those that not so strong
"strong" ones may be those that pull out also your facial tiny hairs...this type not good
also, user toner to mask the face or use a cooling mask to minimize all pores afterwards (this is very impt step) |

Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. Yes, Comedogel is the name of a single Phytomer product. It's the second last product in the "Purifying Corrective Collection" table on that page. I think that products with Glycolic/Salicylic Acid would also work for you. Good for exfoliationg and cleaning out the pores.

I used to use the strips about once a week. But since I find that I have stepped up my skin care regime I have less need for using them that often. Now I only use it every 2-3 weeks. I guess a good idea is just to take a look and see if the blackheads have returned. Then just apply another strip. Probably not a good idea to go for more than one a week though. Could be too harsh that way.
Also, the afternoon of or the night before a big night out I will use a strip just for my own assurance. |

I originally loved pore strips as they really cleaned them out and in a sad way the entire process was somewhat satisfying... However, I ended up with a broken capillary on my face at the base of my nose from them. I've had it now for five years and every morning that I have to cover it up, I seriously regret ever using pore strips! By now I have to assume the damage is permanent. I checked the product I was using at the time and was not able to find any warnings regaring capillary damage related to pore strips... |

Some people believe pore strips to be harmful to the skin since it does take a whole layer of skin off. Also these might seem to help blackheads temporarily, but it's only surface and not long term. I say if blackheads are your problem a good AHA/BHA product will work wonders, results may not be immediate but at least you know it's more long term. |

i have to confess, that pore strips are the only thing that really work for me.
to cleanse i use jurlique face wash cream, (having found it more suitable to my skin than the dr h cleansing cream), and have quite sensitive skin, so aha and bha lead to disaster.
i generally find i get the best results after i have cleansed in the shower, and put on a mask (either jurlique moor purifting mask, or decleor clay and herbal mask). lots of gunk comes out, the skin it is smooth, and i am very gratified. |

i actually like the pores strips too. i doubt they cause large pores. the strips aren't necessarily pulling out "dirt", they are little comedome cyst things that form and will continue to form. I also use those peel off masks which are also very strong.
i do worry about broken capillaries but my face just feels so soft and exfoliated and clean after every mask or strip.
i don't recommend doing either too often or if your skin tends to be thin. mine is rather thick so i can tolerate more.
i find have been using less of the strips and mask as i incorporate AHA/BHA acids in my skin care routine.

I used to have a problem with blackheads myself, but once I started using a gentle non drying cleanser and my skin was properly hydrated they went away.
Blackheads are often a sign of dry skin, which can happen with oily skin if too many drying products are used.
Take a look at the products that you are using to ensure that you have something that hydrates and that you are not overdoing it on the drying products... You may be able to get rid of those blackheads with just a couple of subtle changes in your routine.
Good luck!

Those strips are like putting duct tape on your nose!
Black heads are open comedomes that turn black because they are oxidized from the air. The best things to do is exfoliate to rid dead skin cells from not allowing sebum and dirt to excrete from pores and to remove them you have to extract. They are deep in the pores, no strip will remove them. The best thing is to get a facial. Most people squeeze to hard and bruise the skin and make broken capillaries.
Your pore size are what your mama gave you. So if you remove the gunk no matter how you are doing so your pores are going to be large for a little while. Glycolics and AHA's help to make less oil, which in turn make less black heads and then there is nothing there to stretch your pores. Ta da...smaller, cleaners pores. |

I used Biore pore strips from CVS and then after I used them, i washed my face with cold water because I was told that it helps close the pores. I don't use it anymore because it hurts peeling it off by irritating the skin below my eyes. |

You are right, that's the reason I turned back to the nose strips. I just feel the strips pull the black head out from the root. |
