So did anyone celebrate Mardi Gras yesterday? I remember as a kid we used to have a special pancake breakfast at school. Was going to make myself some crepes for dessert after dinner but was too lazy. Just wondering if anyone here as has any traditions they'd like to share. |

We always have a King Cake for Mardi Gras after a big bowl of gumbo at my moms house.
It gets crazy over here in Ville Platte and the surrounding towns...it starts in the morning with drunks on horses riding through country and town with masks and loud cajun "mardi gras" music. When they get to a house with chickens in the yard they ask permission to chase them until someone catches one. That's a sight to see ... Then at the end of the ride a huge gumbo is cooked (including the poor chicken that was caught) and the party continues late into the evening... |
