But I really need some SS help.
I know it's a lively topic but it's the summer here and I'm running out of my current one.
I have dry skin and want a high spf SS - I currently use Bioderma AKN Spray. I like this product but I'd like to try a different one.
I used Vichy Capital Soleil and broke out badly (I don't usually get spots).
I've spent an hour doing a search on past threads and have some ideas but would really apprciate some extra input.
Thank you.

Hi Emma2006,
I use Fallene Cotz Spf 58, containing only titanium and zinc oxide, and it works for my sensitive, previously acne-prone skin. I am actually a few shades lighter from this sunblock.
Here's the website: http://www.totalblock.com

emma2006, i'm not expert but here are my the ones i like
1) avene sunscreen - a bit thick and may leave a white cast. however, i recommended it to my friend who used it for her round island canoing trip and she came back only 1 shade darker on the face! Her hands and back were a completely tanned despite using other brands of sun block!
2)Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 PA+++ or Lancome UV Expert SPF 50. These are both pretty good and are less thick/oily then the avene
3) organic pharmacy. this is my favorite sunblock and i'll purchase it again once i find extra cash lying around. no preservatives, no chemicals and lasts up to 8 hours (as long as you don't it off). |

I like the Avene anti-redness sunscreen with 25SPF. Mainly I stay out of the sun during the hottest times of the day if possible, and wear a hat. |

I would also have to agree with the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion, it's a great product & hasn't given me any breakouts yet...& I have been using it for around 2 years. |

Why don't you get some Anthelios XL (Canadian online stores or ebay) then slather some Megan Gale 100% over the top? You may look like a goth but at least your skin will be protected.
I have added some pine bark extract to the aforementioned SS's because I would like an idiot wearing make-up around the street. The pine bark extract adds a hint of colour as well as providing anti-oxidant protection. |

Emma,
I am pretty sure that snowstar was referring to the avene creme minerale--a 100% mineral based physical sunscreen. Nothing's getting through it, but it does indeed leave a whitish cast. I think it would be excellent for the beach. I'm recently in love with bioderma's photomax 50 fluide. my skin has been ultrasensitive lately, and it has not given me even the slightest indication of irritation or potential spots.

Emma, just curious, why would you want to switch if the like the AKN spray? It's got the spf and ppd you need. I guess I'm sorta biased b/c I'm using Bioderma Max Fluide (I believe the spf and ppd are both higher than w/ the AKN). I absolutely love it!! It's pretty liquidy and gives a subtle glowy finish, not greasy at all. Then again, it's a freakin' blizzard in Chicago right now |

It sometimes leaves my skin a bit taut and I'm not 100% convinced it offers the best protection as it is so watery. |

I was having a look at The Organic Pharmacy sunblock and was thinking about buying it. However, I'm just wondering if it's greasy or leaves a white cast. Also, is it suitable for everyday use? TIA! |

Emma2006, sorry for the slow response, the threads move so quickly here that i forget. please do pm me if you have any more questions.
if you intend to be out in the sun, i would suggest the avene spray with spf 25 or spf 60, depending on the sun. i find it easier to apply then the cream version. Both work equally well imho.
for daily use, i use their city sunscreen base with uva/uvb for sensitive skin. spf 15, uva 10. this one has a white cast that quickly dissapears.
here's a link for all their products

yes, it is suitable for daily use BUT it is not strong enough to be on the beach or if you are really in the sun. it's only spf 25.
it does not leave a white cast on my sister or me. it does have a creamy texture that takes some getting used to.
margot, one of the ladies behind Organic Pharmacy, is really sweet and will answer all questions and give very very helpful suggestions. my sister uses only their products so i'll be happy to answer any questions.

Thank you for your reply. Mind you, I'm Oriental Asian and many sunscreens I've tried leave white cast on me including Shiseido sunscreen. The product does sound very good. I think I'll order it when I place my order from The Organic Pharmacy. I generally love their products |

lynn2525,
i'm asian too 100% pure chinese although i'm of mix dialect groups
i'll like to add that organic pharmacy sunblock is pretty amazing as we do not need to reapply it throughout the day for it to be effective - we just need to ensure that we don't wipe it off accidentally.
works pretty much like sisley all day all year but certainly cheaper!!! |

snowstar,
I'm Thai though I don't look much like it. I get taken for all sorts of nationalities I think I have a yellow undertone and I hate how sunscreen looks so white on me. I haven't tried Sisley All Day All Year, but the Organic Pharmacy sounds really good. Do you purchase The Organic Pharmacy online? |

Sweet28, when you use Fallene Cotz Spf 58, do you find that it doesn't necessarily go on too smoothly? I have been using the Fallen SPF 65 Total Block, but it doesn't seem too have a real smooth consistency when I put it on. I love the fact is seems to really do its job, but it looks a little......strange, sometimes, under my make-up, in spite of using a moisturizer on top of it. Do you have that problem, or has anyone had that proble w/Cotz SPF 58? Thank you! |

yes and no. i've bought them from the HK store and online. it's FAR cheaper online (even if i add in shipping) than from the HK store. |
