I'm 25 and African american. I have darker color skin.
My problem is I was getting ready for vacation and trying on clothes, taking photos and smiling too hard and too long. When I looked I had a line going from my nose to mouth. Before it wasn't there .
Now I don't want to smile again.
Its not seeming to budge its been two days. I've been applying Vaseline.
I don't usually use moisturizer just cetaphil and Vaseline. I don't know what to do. Its making me depressed thinking my youth is gone.
After I smile it looks terrible but when I'm not smiling not as bad. But the line stays. Any advice or tips. Is this line just going to get worse? |

Used regularly, facial exercises will keep the underlying muscles strong and Sanford Bennett's friction massage can minimize the appearance of lines, you can google him if you want to try the massage, it requires that you flex the muscle while massaging. Check out at a facial muscle diagram to understand the structure beneath your skin. |

You're just dehydrated. A line doesn't appear like that out of nowhere from smiling. If you used a skin care product previously to this happening then let us know on here. Otherwise, drink 2-3 liters of water a day but not all at once so you don't kill yourself with over toxicity with water, also you have you account for foods and other juices/drinks you eat/drink that contain water (veggies, fruits etc), so generally 2 liters of water a day is good to add. You'll be fine, give it two weeks |

Pokerlady I wish I can say so. But it looks so real. I wasn't using any products by the way I just started using vitamin c serum from amazon called leora beauty. It gets deeper when I smile. I'm really depressed over this. |

Hello! This is what is happening to me right now. I am 26 and also black. I gave birth 6 months ago and went from a nice youthful face to a badly aged face. I have horrible smile lines!I hardly drink water and don't sleep much. Maybe us drinking more water will help? I am depressed about this too. Sorry I haven't helped you. I just want you to know you are not alone. |

Good health provides the foundation for great skin. Sufficient hydration, nutrition, and sleep are vital to premium skin.
Read about how sleep promotes collagen production, there are dozens of references, her is one.

"While you are sleeping…
While we sleep, our bodies take time to restore energy and rebuild tissue and cells. During delta sleep, the fourth and deepest stage of rest, growth hormones peak and initiate cell and tissue repair. This regeneration is the process where fresh, new skin cells replace old, dead skin. Cortisol and insulin production inversely peak during sleeping hours so that collagen production is accelerated and skin becomes firmer. The body also metabolises free radicals, which accelerate ageing and cancerous growths. During sleep, our facial muscles relax, which allows the dermal layers of our skin to rejuvenate, thus helping to smooth wrinkles and fine lines." |
