Hi All,

I've just joined and this is a great forum, I have learnt a few things already..

I was wondering whether anyone had tried any whitening pills, do these actually work or not...

I have tanned skin and wanted to get a few shades lighter...I have done a few skin peels and other treatments, but I wanted recommendations on which whitening pills forum users are using and what results they have achieved. I was thinking of buying the Whitening Pills from the US, from skinbleaching.net, however, someone commented that these have not worked and that they are very expensive...

Could anyone please help me, I am looking to purchase some pills, but which ones are good and recommended to work by others...Any help would be gratefully received as I dont want to buy something that does nothing after a few months,

many thanks
Karen (from the UK)

I just started to use a month ago. I guess it is too early to see the result. Will keep you posted if I see any results.

I bought these skin bleaching pills from skinbleaching.net. I have been taking for a month now. So I don't see any result yet. I came across this forum website only today and I did notice someone (cutie) have commented it's not effective.

Anyway, I have already bought for three months supply so I guess I have to just finish taking this pills for three months.

Only three months later will I know whether skinbleaching.net cheated me or not.

Sally,

Im so sorry to tell you that it will never work... Ive tried skinbleaching.net for 6 months and my skin color has not changed a bit. The website has nothing but false claims.

i hav also read some comments about skinbleaching.net and some users claim that it was just a SCAM. If you really want an effective skin whitening pills try searching for the super whitening pills of Kazumi(although she has been banned here due to advertising)..it really works coz Ive seen its results already and its affordable too

well, to be honest, i would be EXTREMELY cautious about putting anything into my body... i mean i can accept putting cosmetics/oils/creams or whatever onto my skin externally, but taking pills?!?! i dunno... Think i even have problems taking prescribed antibiotics by my derm to treat acne, letting along taking some whitening pills that are disputable in their effectiveness and unclear of their ingrediants!!!

i've checked out the website that you guys mentioned... some of the FAQ they posted are bit contradicting and got me questioned about the credibility of the whole ordeal Doubt ... they GUARANTEED the pills to work, yet they DO NOT offer a money back gaurantee and BLAME THE CONSUMER for not takeing the pills correctly as directed if it doesn't show any prominent effects??!!??!! WHAT?!?! Shock

in addition, they claimed that the effect of the pills is PERMANENT??!! BUT provided that the consumer has taken it deligently for a minimum of 3 months at a cost of $209 ... now this is serious... some pills that has PERMANENT whitening effect on human body is definitely impossible, providing if u did a scientific search on the ingrediants (which i did and posted at the end of the mail), NONE of the listed one alters the DNA genetic pre-programmed composition of the melanocyte pigment cells, which is what u need to PERMANENTLY alter the pathway of melanin production.... on that note, the United States FDA will NEVER approve something that has PERMANENT effect on human body!!! just think that it takes FDA at least 10-15 years to approve some of the most potent medications that we have today with extensive research and testings and grading, let alone something that's sounded more like OTC vitamin... AND FDA DO NOT APPROVE ANY OTC NATURAL VITAMINS or homeopathic things that consumers take for the well-being of their health... while at the search, i couldn't even find anything on LycoPhence, which is the "patented" ingrediant listed... even the Arbutin is dose-dependent and has contravertial reviews... the ingrediant list is just sooooo vague...

i even check their US(?) address on mapquest... it doesn't even exist!!!... no phone number to be reached and only contact by emails... !@#%$&*?... i dunno, this sounded so much like a scam!!!!

man, the more i write, the more furious i get Mad well, just imagine that i'm just about to scream and jump up and down... see, there are even massive smoke coming outta my head!!!!

please, if any of you who've tried this product and still have the bottle or the packaging... could you find the FDA patent number somewhere on it... it would be interesting to pick up the phone and call the FDA directly to find out if such product they so claimed about do exist and has FDA's authoritative "blessing"!!!

you know, i don't mean to preach... but our health is something that we'll never be able to buy back with money once it's damaged... so take good care of it!!!

** note: these are the few of the research abstracts that i've read... and there are more!!!

1)Effect of arbutin on melanogenic proteins in human melanocytes.
Pigment Cell Res 1998 Aug;11(4):206-12 (ISSN: 0893-5785)
Chakraborty AK; Funasaka Y; Komoto M; Ichihashi M
Department of Dermatology, Kobe University School of Medicine, Japan.
The inhibitory effect of arbutin, a naturally occurring beta-D-glucopyranoside derivative of hydroquinone, on melanogenesis was studied biochemically by using human melanocytes in culture. Cells were cultured in the presence of different concentrations of arbutin. The maximum concentration of arbutin that was not inhibitory to growth of the cells was 100 micrograms/ml. At that concentration, melanin synthesis was inhibited significantly by approximately 20% after 5 days, compared with untreated cells. This phenotypic change was associated with the inhibition of tyrosinase and DHICA polymerase activities, and the degree of inhibition was dose dependent. No significant difference in DOPAchrome tautomerase (DT) activity was observed before or after arbutin treatment. Western blotting experiments revealed there were no changes in protein content or in molecular size of tyrosinase, TRP-1 or TRP-2, indicating that inhibition of tyrosinase activity by arbutin might be due to effects at the post-translational level.

2)Arbutin increases the pigmentation of cultured human melanocytes through mechanisms other than the induction of tyrosinase activity.
Pigment Cell Res 1998 Feb;11(1):12-7 (ISSN: 0893-5785)
Nakajima M; Shinoda I; Fukuwatari Y; Hayasawa H
Nutritional Science Laboratory, Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd., Kanagawa, Japan.
We assessed the effects of arbutin on the pigmentation of cultured normal human melanocytes. As indicated by a cell-blotting assay, arbutin at concentrations in the range of 0.5-8 mM increased the pigmentation of the cultured melanocytes, while kojic acid at concentrations in the range of 0.5-4 mM decreased the pigmentation. The pigmentation-augmenting effect of arbutin was further confirmed by the results of a cell-pelleting assay, the traditional method of assessment. Treatment of the cells with arbutin increased the melanin content of the cells and the protein content as well. On the other hand, the tyrosinase activity in the cells was reduced by arbutin treatment. The levels of transcription of tyrosinase and tyrosinase related protein-1 genes were not affected by arbutin treatment as indicated by a semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction assay. These results demonstrate that arbutin promotes an increase in pigmentation of cultured human melanocytes that is not mediated by augmented tyrosinase activity.
