I thought bare minerals was supposed to decrease the lines....I love the color, the feel, the applications....but it really brings out the lines in my face. I'm so disappointed. |

this is the powdered mineral foundation and the eye shadows that I got from the Bare Escentuals infomercial. It's called Bare Minerals. It has the mineral veil and what they call "warmth" and "glee". I can see where it would be perfect for anyone under 30. I love it...I just can't wear it. Back to the drawing board for me. Good luck |

As a make-up artist, I was wondering how you're applying this line? I ask, because this make-up line is light-diffusing, therefore, should soften the look of lines!
However, when using a powder or loose-based foundation, one must prep the skin thoroughly prior to application. Otherwise, your application WILL look crepey and not flattering.
First, try an exfoliating cleanser, such as MD Formulations. You want to remove dead skin cells, that can cling to the skin, not allow smooth application, and create a barrier for your moisturizer. Follow with a good, hydrating moisturizer. You want to hydrate, to plump up the fine lines/imperfections, especially at this time of year! Allow your moisturizer to penetrate for about five minutes, to ensure a smooth application.
Remember: less is more. Don't be too heavy-handed with your product. You want to enhance your skin, not change it completely. Apply your make-up in your most natural source of light. Good luck. |

I also ordered this product and am pretty disappointed... even though I asked for the light foundation kit, it causes my face to look quite dark orangish... I have prepped per your (wonderful) advice CM but still no luck. Using less product give me no coverage so I am very sad. |

Bare Minerals is good. I received it and I love touching and feeling it. It's really smooth like powder, but yet they are natually crushed minerals. I am planning to order the different blushes since I have pale skin.

I love the sound of this stuff, but I always find that powder makes me look really old and manky no matter how much I prep, blend and go lightly
I have thus come to the conclusion that I am getting old and manky |

guapagirl, you make me laugh!
i think the trick with powder is to moisturize your skin enough, so that the power sinks right in and doesn't look cakey or dry. having said that, i myself really like liquid foundations - my favorite is from SOTHYS called lift defence in porcelain. |

Glow, I kid you not but I moisturise so much it's almost a slick to dwarf exxon valdez! I have decided that I look better slick and shiney (well it soaks in after an hour to a fairly matte finish anyway) than matte and creased. My skin is really quite dry, tho nowhere near as bad as it used to be, so no matter how much I lust for this make up I will be firm and not buy it so it can join all the other powders I have. Seriously I'm NOT GOING TO GET ANY! Though I am curious to try it. Did someone say they sell little tester type kits? |

guapa girl, I have the same problem with powders because I put so much moisturizer on the mineral makeup was going on heavy because it was clinging to all that moisturizer. If you do decide to try the mineral makeup be sure to wait awhile (20 minutes) until your moisturizer has soaked in and then use a very light hand. Much lighter hand than you would think necessary.
I'm finally beginning to like the mineral makeup but initially I looked about 10 years older when I applied it.

Well, as much as I love Bare Escentuals mineral makeup and it has done wonders for my skin the last few months (no more pimples!), I have to agree that the mineral foundation makes me look more aged and it settles in my wrinkles and also makes my large pores more noticeable. At this point, I am using the foundation everywhere on my face except around the eye area - because of the wrinkles. Sounds like putting the foundation on to quickly after putting on a moisturizer could be the problem. I will try and wait 20 minutes before applying the foundation, otherwise it is back to drawing board. |

I have been using the MD formulations regimen for about 3 months or so, & started using bare minerals foundation at the same time. I use the foundation as a concealer as well when needed. I never used to like any sort of loose powders as I felt they settled into fine lines too, but this product seems to work. I think as with all skin care it is a matter of trial & error for each person - not that it helps the economic factor at all. |
