So I'm a long time lurker of this forum and have found some invaluable tips and products through the knowledge that's been shared on here and I've finally decided to take the plunge and join.
Anyways, my eyebrows have slowly and gradually been thinning for about a year now and I decided to try using Castor Oil on them once a day every night at an attempt to help them grow thicker.
I found castor oil at my local walgreens and found it in the little spanish oriented product section(jaloma brand), so I decided to give it a shot. I have been applying it religiously for 1 month every single night and I have not seen any improvement. The rate that the eyebrow hairs have been falling out though has increased since applying.
At first I figured this is a good sign as usually products that benefit your hair lead the hair follicle to shed so that a new thicker healthier hair can grow in it's place. I have not noticed the hair growing to be any thicker. It's been a month now and I'm wondering if I should stick through it because perhaps it's just too soon to see results or if I should stop and try something else?..(dont' know what else i can try, any suggestions?)
It's amazing how different my eyes look and face in general now that the lines created from my brows are slowly fading away as they thin. It's really bothering me.
Please help! |

Hi
I would stop if I were you. It really doesn't sound like it's going to get better.
BTW Ardell's Brow and Lash Accelerator is working great on my lashes. I don't apply on my brows cos I don't have problems there but perhaps you should consider it? It's dirt cheap too. You can order at drugstore.com |

You are probably using a brand that was chemically processed - this is a no-no as it can adverse effects as those you're experiencing (not saying that is definitely the reason but it's my guess).
What you want is expeller-pressed castor oil, which you'll likely find at a health food store or online at sites likewww.mountainroseherbs.com.
Good luck. |

Sorry your eyebrows are thinning. Check to make sure you are not hypothyroid. Ask your endocrinologist or internal medicine doc to check your TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and thyroid antibody test. Your TSH should not be higher than 2.0 and your Free Ts should be in the middle to upper part of the range.
Hypothyroidism is known to cause eyebrow loss in the outer 1/3 of the brow.
If you are already hypo, make sure your Free Ts are in the middle to upper part of the range. If not, you might want to try Rogaine on your brows.

I 2nd the Ardell, I have been using it on my lashes for about 2 weeks & I'm definitely seeing some improvement! I previously used it on my eyebrows, but I'm not sure it did much . I'm also not sure what Talika Eyebrow Lipocils is like but that is another option. ![Question](images/smiles/question.gif) |

Maybe you can try Rogaine for your eyebrows. I'm using Rogaine and Shu Uemura Lash Repair on my eyebrows for about 1 month now, and am very happy with the results so far.. I got Ardell for my eyelashes.. Maybe you can try that too? Only $3.99 at drugstore.com. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Thanks to everyone that's replied so far.
Scalawaggirl - I took a look at the site you linked and I decided to purchase the castor oil they sell. I'll switch over to that one, once the new one comes in. Thanks!
Librarygirl - I had a thyroid test done and apparently everything is ok. I'm not sure exactly what the doctor checked to determine my thyroid is problem free...but I'm sure he checked those things you listed. I'm 22 so I had looked into getting it tested...as losing your eyebrows at 22...just doesn't same very normal to me. Thanks!
Safire - I tryed Talika Lipocils for 2 monthes, with no visually noticable success, so I quit. I'm going to look into that Ardell product you recommended. Thanks!
I'm hesitant to try Rogaine on my brows as I'm not comfortable with the idea of the side effects that could result from it. I'm going to save it as a last resort. For now I'm applying a product called Folligen(copper-peptides) to my brows and the castor oil. I've also changed my face wash.
If anyone else has some info to share with me, please please please do! |

Are you sure you are not allergic to castor oil? I think Manslayerliz is allergic to it, so maybe you want to talk to her about how she knows she is allergic and what it does to her. |

Also, please check out this site for their KGF serum for brows.
http://www.skinactives.com/buy2.htm
It's in the middle of the page, just scroll down till you get to the K area.
I bought it but I used it for my lashes. However whatever is left over on the applicator wand, I rub it on my brows. |
