I started the oily skin regime about a month ago, and right now my skin feels dry, irritated, and is covered in blackheads (for me, a sure sign that oil production is in overdrive due to dry skin). I use the cleansing cream, clarifying toner, and normalizing day oil in the a.m. and cleansing milk, cleansing cream, and clarifying toner in the p.m., no moisturizer. I could kick myself for not ordering one of the other moisturizers when I ordered these products, but I honestly didn't think, after going through sample sizes of all of these products, that I would get dried out or irritated. Now I am realizing that I should have waited to use the whole oily skin system until spring/summer. So, I am wondering if I should play around with what I already have (ie. use cleansing cream only once a day, use cleansing milk in a.m, instead, use toner only once a day, etc.) or order the other toner and maybe the quince moisturizer also. There is also the option of taking out the normalizing oil and replacing it with some oils that I already have and love (Decleor Neroli and Rose d'orient). Has anybody else gotten dried out from the Dr. H products? I think that I just got the wrong products for my skin for this time of the year.

I had the same problem with Dr Hauscka. My skin became dry and congested, problems I do not normally have. I think the dryness is due to the high content of plant alcohol, while the beeswax caused the congestion. |

Hi
I used the Dr H range for a long time because it seemed to be the only thing my sensitive skin can handle, but I'm realizing now that the alcohol that seems to be in most of their products was dehydrating my skin, causing it to produce more oil and as a result throughout the day, my face would be very shiny. My oil regulation has improved alot using emu oil, maybe you should try that? |

Hmm. Sounds like exactly what I am going through. I think that I will try using them less frequently and in different order. This a.m., I put on Decleor Rose d'orient oil and already my skin is feeling better, although it looks terrible. I am a pale person, so the red is really obvious even with yellow color corrector under my makeup. In the past, however, the Rose oil takes care of reddness/irritation fairly quickly, so hopefully tomorrow will look better.
Thanks for sharing your experience

My skin is oily on the surface, dry underneath, so I am sure that this is what happened to me, too. It feels very dehydrated. Maybe I will be able to handle the range during the summer when I am an oil slick. I think that it was a mistake for me to try it all during the winter when my skin is usually more normal. I am curious; were you using the produts for oily, congested skin or for regular/dry skin? I am wondering if I might do better with the regular toner and some moisturizer other than the day oil. Thanks!
Edited to add: No, I have never used Emu oil. Perhaps I should look into that for winter use.

I was using the Moisturizing day cream and cleansing cream, didn't use any of their toners. My skin is actually combi/oily on the surface - I didn't actually use the products reced for my skin type because I was sensitive to an ingredient in those. I started out well with the masks, but also developed a sensitivity to them after awhile. Honestly, my skin improved alot after I stopped using the line and moved on to less irritating stuff. |

Hmm...Good to know. Perhaps I should just use up what I have and move on. I like the whole idea of the line, but my skin looks terrible right now

Im combination skin, but my skin hates Dr. Hauschka. I found their product too much oil (felt like oil anyway) and it doesnt hydrate, they just sat on top of my skin. by mid day, i have this oil-slick dull skin look, and i had increased amount of clogged pores. I never went back to any of their cleanser, mask or moisturiser. The only thing i find really good was their rymthmic conditioner. Great for skin allergy days. |

Just a quick update on my Dr. H. experience. I backed off from using the products so frequently, and my skin is looking great. Now I just use:
A.M.
Cleansing milk
Normalizing Day Oil (or another moisturizer if I am feeling somewhat dry)
P.M.
Cleansing milk
Clarifying toner
Twice a week I use the Cleansing Cream
Twice a week I use the Clay mask
Apparently I was drying my skin out by using everything too frequently. I am glad that I was able to make this work for me

Hi, Tina, I'm glad you were able to get a routine that worked well for you. The schedule you posted is similar to the one I use. (I'd tried the Day Oil as well but never became acclimated to it.)
Now I use the Rose Day Cream instead. I'd expected it to congest my skin because it's very rich and my skin had been oily in the T-zone. But, amazingly it works beautifully.
Have you tried the Rejuvenating Mask? I use it once a week and love it. It seems to sort of balance everything out. |

I tried Dr. H last summer and I had the same results. It made my combo/oily summer skin VERY dry and acne prone. I used the moisturizers/night conditioners/mask/toner/cleanser/cleansing cream....the whole line because at first my skin looked great...but it went down hill. I have just started using the Cleansing Cream again...but I must use a moisturizer (its -4 degrees here today) so if I didnt my skin would be so dry. It did help me to use the rejuv mask at night instead of a moisturizer and during the day I used the rose day cream (tried quince too) but they left my face very oily. It never seemed to sink in. I do love the concept of the line....I have found that Weleda is the same theory...and much cheaper. You could try one of their moisturizers. |

Hi. I tried a sample of the rejuvenating mask, and honestly it didn't seem to do anything to wow me enough to buy a full size. I know that many people love it, but I personally didn't see results one way or another from the trial size. I do love the clay mask, however, as it is so gentle on my skin.
I was thinking about the Quince moisturizer, actually, but I may purchase the try-me tin so I can try the Rose as well. It sounds really nice!

Thanks for the tip; I had never considered Weleda, but I will check it out now
