Hi, just a quick question for all thoses who are into skin lightening, what do you do about your eye area?
Many of the skin lightening products available (serums, creams, sunscreens and exfoliation products) are not suitable for use around the eye area, so if you have lightened your skin, have you been left with darker skin around the eye area?
This puts me off starting a skin brightening regime, as I do not want there to be difference in pigmentation between the skin on my face and the skin around the eyes.
Thanks,
micawber. |

I have been using Kinerase around my eyes with great results. They have also recently come out with a Kinerase eye cream.

Personally, I wouldn't worry that a skin lightening product is going to cause such a change in skin tone that the area around your eyes will be noticeable. It's already a lighter tone, as it doesn't face as much sun exposure. But really, the lightening and brightening effect of hydroquinone etc. type products isn't going to bleach your face to such extremes.
If you are really concerned, you can certainly try feathering the product as close as you feel comfortable towards your eyes. Most products say not to use around the eyes, but there is a thread on the board right now about everything people still use around the eyes. Mainly the concern is that the skin there is more delicate, and also that some of these products should NOT get in the eye. But as long as your are careful, and pay attention to the reactions of your skin, you should be fine.
You're unlikely to find any truly effective lightener intended solely for around the eyes, despite the many suggestions from people who have had a product work for them. Just do a search here for undereye circles. If there were a product out there that could simply lighten the skin under the eyes, believe me, I would be all over it. But as it stands now, there are some products that have given some people minimal results, but it all depends on the type of undereye circles you have, i.e. those caused by lack of sleep, dehydration, prominent blood vessels, or genetics. |
