I'm looking for some new things to try!
My favorites at the moment are:
Cleansing: Spectro Gel cleanser in the purple and white bottle.
Moisturiser: Dove Sensitive Day Lotion, not my HG, still searching for that perfect moisturiser.
Toner: Avene Thermal Water, not really a toner, but makes my skin feel great after cleansing.
Body Moisturiser: Aveeno Baby Moisturiser, can't beat this for the price, it doesn't irritate and does double duty at keeping baby's and my skin super soft!
Bath: Aveeno Bath treatment, good old collidial oatmeal, great for when my skin is really dry and itchy.
I think thats it! I haven't found a sunscreen I can use yet without breaking out in a rash, so any recs for one would be appreciated, also a good eyecream rec would be great also!

Hi Moosette,
I had a similar problem with sunscreens. It was very frustrating but just about every sunscreen I used would cause a rash, with small tiny bumps, all over my face and body. My skin would itch and get all red for a couple of days before clearing up. I learned more about sunscreen ingredients and realized I was allergic to just about every chemical ingredient out there with the exception of physical blockers (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide). Sunscreens/sunblockers containing only titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide as active ingredients work for me and I no longer get rashes. The current brand I use is called Fallene Cotz. I use this everyday and I have no problems. Here is the website if you are interested in ordering or reading more: http://www.totalblock.com (the one I use is for sensitive skin, containing ONLY titanium and zinc as active ingredients).
For other things, I use Sisely toner, and cleanser for sensitive skin. They are a bit pricey but they never cause any problems for me and I use to have very sensitive skin. In fact, any time I have a breakout with my sensitive skin, this is my 'default' brand until I clear up.
For a more cost effective moisturizer, I discovered Sebamed Moisterizing Cream. It's wonderful for my sensitive skin and keeps it hydrated at a healthy pH level.
Cheers,
Sweet28 |

The best thing I did for my skin was to use only water when I wash my face because it doesn't upset the acid mantle of my skin and it didn't dry it out. I have an osmotic water purifier hooked up to my sink which is really good. It actually felt softer than ever, and when I looked in the mirror afterwards, my skin literally glowed and felt soooooo soft without cream..it's hard to believe from just using water.
I always used cleanser (a gentle one even) because I thought it would help clear away whatever was causing my break out problems, but I realized this wasn't the problem at all because when I started using water only, my troubled areas begin to recover and my skin became poreless. I think I must have been disrupting the natural barrier and my skin reacted to that, drying it out, creating excess oil, enlarging pores, causing blemish etc..
I also don't have to use so much product on my face because it doesn't feel dry anymore. |

Specifically, Bath & Body Works Sensitive Skin Calming Face Cream (I was too lazy to get up and look in the bathroom before to see the name of the product ). It was a trial size in a little kit so I'm not sure of the ingredients, other than soy. I put it on at night after I've been "messing" with my face (picking, scrubbing, exfoliating, etc.) and in the morning the redness is completely gone and my skin really does seem calmer and completely hydrated. Normally I don't use their facial products but I think I might get the full size of this one. It's too rich for me to use everyday, but I like it for those days that are more sensitive than others. |

Sensitive Skin definitely Primavera Cleansers, though not sure about the Exfoliating one for SUPER sensitive skin. My favorite serum is La Prairie's de-sensitizing serum, I haven't found anything else to get rid of redness as quickly as effectively as that while providing a very good amount of hydration so unless you have very dry skin you wouldn't even need a cream afterward. PSF or zenbiotics' Oxygen is also a must have and yonka's toners are great at diffusing redness too! |
