I just got this and have been using it over my normal water based concealer on my lids. However the primer actually makes my eye makeup smudge terribly - worse than normal. Could it be because I layer it on top of my concealer? |

hello there.
I searched high and low for the best primer that would keep my eye makeup on and looking good for extended periods, and trust me, the UD one is "it".
Yes, i believe it is meant to be applied first. That's what I do. But wait: bear in mind that it is a liquid, so:
-ensure that the applicator is not "dripping" with product, essentially, lightly scrape the applicator against the tube when removing it
-apply it on dry, cleansed eyelids
-you don't have to apply it all the way up to the eyebrow line, just where you think your eyeshadow will go
-then WAIT a minute or two. This is a liquid, and it needs to DRY. I find that it naturally creases in my eyelid as it dries. Allow it to do that (ie. don't touch it while it dries: about 1 minute), and them smudge it lightly with your finger to smooth it out.
And voila!! Ready for your eyeshadow. I don't use concealer on my eyelids. Instead, over my UD primer, I apply a coat of light eyeshadow that "acts" like a concealer, such as Vanilla by MAC. And presto, all veiny lines and blue-ness is gone. And the rest of your makeup will stay flawless. (I do apply concealer under my eyes, just not on eyelids. It's not necessary with this trick! and your makeup will feel lighter!)
I am a flight attendant who frequently works 14hr flights, and let me tell you, it's a miracle that this stuff keeps my makeup looking good once i land on the other end, after working and taking a nap. I will always repurchase this stuff.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. I do need concealer on my lids though to even out the skin tone - will try it under my normal concealer. |

just try the primer then a suitable colour eyeshadow that matches your skin tone as an experiment. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to get good even coverage. You'll be surprised how much it actually "covers" with the primer underneath! And it stays on...miracle!

I use Lumene's eye primer and have been told it is almost identicle to UD but less expensive ($9). However, mine is not a liquid but more of a thick cream like a concealer and it comes in a little squeeze tube. The directions state to apply a thin layer and top it off with a light dusting of powder to set it. I also find the less I apply the better. This product has saved my eyes from the dreaded shadow crease! |

Both my tubes of UDPP are thick creamyish and not liquid (bought them fresh from a Sephora at SFO). I don't apply with the provided applicator - I either use my fingers or a brush because you really don't need all that much. I don't give it much wait time either because it's goes on like a cream and immediately turns into a matte finish. Although this is sheer perhaps you should try the UDPP on its own to see if it'll even your lid skintone without the concealer. I suspect your concealer (if it's oil based) might be the cause of the UDPP consistency separating and causing your e/s to smudge. |

I concur with steffer (who gave the most excellent advice).
Instead of using a concealer, do try using a nice matt eyeshadow where the udpp is, and then apply concealer to the rest of the eye. Since udpp is meant to go under eyeshadow - there really isn't a point in putting concealer over it, and then eyeshadow. However alot of M.A.C users love putting the M.A.C paint over the UDPP, and that basically acts like a concealer. |

I tried using the UDPP today on bare lids, my eye makeup still smudged, but more importantly, I had a mild allergic reaction (red, puffy, itchy)to the stuff so unfortunately it's going in the trash. |
