My family and I are coming to Florida (not far from Disney) in April for a holiday and just wanted some tips really.
Apart from the obvious touristy stuff is there anything we should do/see that isn't in all the brochures? Restaurants that are a must?
Also I don't really 'do' sun - it doesn't like me. I'm planning on taking lots of Euro SPF 50+ and a big hat but what sort of temperatures can I expect? (Do I need to bring a Burka? LOL!)
Now the important stuff......shopping! Anywhere I really shouldn't miss?!?! |

Hi Lucia
Well where do I start....
Shopping - Florida Mall, Mall of Millenia (for designer stuff), Prime Factory Outlets top of Internation Drive, loads of bargains to be had. Orlando Premium Outlets southern end of International Drive. Disney Village Market Place, loads of Disney stuff, also a Rainforest Cafe.
Weather should be nice that time of year, 80's probably, you're outside of the hurricane season which is May to November and when they get loads of rain. Check out wunderground.com for weather you can see what it was like last year for your dates by going to the almanac. Go to the top where it says City and put in Orlando, choose Orlando then half way down it says history and almanac.
Away from touristy stuff - if you want to see a bit of wildlife the drive down to Kennedy Space Center is interesting, there's also airboating on the Everglades, Homosassa Springs is a nice day out and lovely to see the Manatees.
Restaurants - Sweet Tomatoes, great for the healthy alternative, loads of salads, soups, pasta etc and very tasty. Buffets, Golden Corral and The Ponderosa, but try to go to the ones away from touristy areas. Cheesecake Factory at the Mall of Millenia (the biggest menu I've ever seen), cheesecake to die for!
We'll be there just before you and can't wait. Have a lovely time. |

Hi
What's the EE forums?
The Cheesecake Factory is lush, loads of all sorts to chose from and tons of cheesecake, which you can just buy separately. They have a website, check it you.
We never have enough room for a dessert so take a couple of bits away to eat at our leisure........ usually about 15 minutes later! |
