Hi everyone,
This is my biggest problem.. I am unfortunate to have coarse leg hair and due to improper waxing and shaving as a young girl, have ingrown hair. I have scars from picking at them and am so embarrassed to wear any skirts or shorts.
Other than exfoliating and moisturizing which I do daily, I don't know what I can do to heal my skin and to get rid of all these dark scars and ingrown hair. Tend Skin is a product that helps a little but does anyone else have any other suggestions?
Product and changes in lifestyle recommendations are appreciated! Thanks in advance. |

Are you exfoliating your legs at all? A good loofah or the rough bath gloves will remove dead skin cells that can clog hair follicles. Also, a body lotion with AHA in it will help to exfoliate so you won't get the ingrown hairs. I can't imagine what "wrong shaving" you could have done as a young person that could cause problems now. Minor nicks and cuts should have cleared up fairly quickly, right? If your leg lotion is too heavy, it may be making the ingrown hair problem even worse by being occlusive and blocking pores. There are products to hide scars while you heal if you are too embarassed to wear skirts and shorts. Sally Hansen AirBrush Stockings and also Dermablend.... |

Its amazing what a bit of fake tan and or sheer stockings/tights can do to boost a girls confidence when it comes to wearing skirts or shorts.
I don't think that there are many out there that can boast a perfect pair of legs and we do what we have to make the best of what we have.
Obviously exfoiliating, moisturising and keeping legs hair free all help.

If I were you I'd try some dry body brushing before you shower. The Body Shop has a good natural brush for that. You should see a difference in about 2 weeks. The whole process should take you about 5 minutes before you shower and you should always brush in the direction towards the heart.....
Also, as Betterat40 said, go for lotions with Glycolic Acid. Another good option is the MD Formulations Face & Body Scrub - it's got 15% AHAs so it'll help you exfoliate on top of the scrubbing (wouldn't use it for the face though unless you have oily skin).

I have to admit that I don't clean mine everytime I use it. But once every two weeks or so (depends on how often I've been using it) I run hot water through it, then try to soap it up a bit (it's actually quite a stiff brush) and then rinse it out.
The brush has a string loop attached to it so usually it just hangs in my bathroom (in an area that doesn't get wet).
