I was thinking the first thing you could do is start wearing a sunscreen on a daily basis to protect your skin. The neutrogena spf 15 oil-free healthy defense with AHA is a good one for not breaking your face out. But UVA effectiveness is suspect. I hear that Anthelios Fluide Extreme or the Sheseido spf 55 are very good alternatives. I use a c serum every morning (12% C+ Firming Serum from cellularskinrx.com) that has really helped in brightening, clearing, and firming my skin. C is supposed to help in "normalizing/balancing" oily/dry skin. Since it sounds like your skin doesn't really breakout much nor do you have wrinkling problems - probably just need to start using a daily sunscreen and an antioxidant serum to see nice results. |

hey amerie,
yeah betterrat40 is right, wearing sun screen is one of the best things you can do for your skin. i also think you should use c-serum10 in the morning, but only if you wear sunscreen on top of it. it doesn't matter that you're young, vitimin c is good for everyone in my opinion. since you have oily skin all you need to do in the am is to cleanse, tone, eye cream (if you have one), c-serum and then an oil-free moisturizer that has spf in it. and in the pm cleanse, tone, mybe use balancing serum and a light cream.
i would also recommend dermalogica multi-vitiamin mask, that's good for sun-lovers or a mask that gives plenty of hydration.
i love the sun myself but lately i have been really trying to wear a hat whenever i'm on the beach - it's my new look! very french!

Quick question... I've been using vivier 10% once daily, but only at night - do you think it's better to use it in the morning before applying moisturizer w/spf? i'm 23 also and i've found that applying the serum twice a day isn't the best for me...
thanks for your input! |

C serums should be used in the AM so you can benefit from the protection against free radical damage caused by UV light, pollution and smoke that you encounter during the day. Also, the 12% C+ Firming serum I use says to use only once each day. I can't imagine why yours would need to be appled twice. Is it stable? Anyhow, the benefits of a proper C serum can last for up to 72 hours....hth |

Amerie,
Just once a day will do (I'm pretty sure my Vivier 20% serum says once a day but I don't think it specifies when it should be used). As betterat40, I would also use it in the morning though.
I think the other serum you're referring to might be the hydrating B5 serum? That's the only thing that I can think of that is advised to be used in conjunction (apart from your usual moisturiser). It's used to counteract the drying effects of vit C serums - so basically it's a mositure boost. Is that what you're taking about?
