acne clearing up, skin still not good... help

i had pretty bad acne, but it's finally clearing up some (i'm using differin and minocycline), it's not completely gone, but alot better. the problem is my face still looks unhealthy. my skin is still dry and red. some of this is scarring, i think, but if anyone has any ideas to help this, let me know. thanks alot.

Well I have the same problem as you - acne scarring. When looking around everyone recommended Decleor Prolagene Gel. It is really good for any scarring, be it natural or acidental. It takes a while to see full benefits - about 3 months. However, I have been using it 2 weeks and it has already cured me of oily skin, its fantastic! Everyone I know who uses it swears by it. It comes in 150mls for the body, and 50mls for the face, but they are both the same so go for the body one and save money. 150mls retails for about £30 over here, but Magda sells it for about £19 - bargain!

I would give a try for Dermalogica Clearing Booster and Dermalogica Active Moist Moisturizer. You have to make sure that if you are using acne product which is most likely dehydrating your skin, you have to use proper moisturizer after acne treatment.
At night time (to calm the redness down) you could use Dermalogica soothing booster before moisturizer.

I second Dermalogica Active Moist. It's very lightweight and won't cause breakouts. And it gives just enough hydration to acne-prone skin. It's now my favorite moisturizer. You can pair it with the Soothing Protection Spray (Dermalogica) to lessen the redness and drying. As for cleanser, you may want to try Dermalogica Antibacterial cleanser. If you feel tight or dry after washing, just spray immediately with the soothing protection spray and your skin will feel hydrated and calm.

It's good to hear that your skin is clearing-up. Many combination oral-contraceptives do clear-up androgen-based acne. Everyones' body chemistry is different, and though this one has worked for you, it may not for someone else ... they might be sensitive to it's progestin, and be prescribed a different combination.

Just a word to the wise: now that you've got your skin cleared-up, and are taking such good care of it, know that it's really important to wear sunscreen. Oral contraceptives can make the skin photo-sensitive, causing patchy melasma. I love Active Moist too, but you may want to mix a bit of Dermalogica's Solar Booster SPF 30 into this, to cover all your bases!

I recently went on a Differin w/ Doxycycline acne treatment and I experience the same skin drying and reddening.

Any opinions on using Eucerin's Extra Protective Moisture Lotion w/ SPF 30?

P.S. : Time Consumer - did your dermatologist say anything about applying a moisturizer either before or after applying differin at night...whether it was ok to do so or not?

I asked my dermatologist the same questions. He said that it was fine, but some people may experience irritation. He said to make sure that your moisturizer did NOT have any AHA/BHA because that would just increase the risk of irritation.

Did your dermatologist specify before or after applying Differin?
