Hi
I recently posted asking for an alternative to OPI nail polish as I wanted to try to avoid formaldehyde. I was recommended Zoya nail polish so I bought a few colours.
First thing I noticed was the strong smell when opening the bottle, it's like nail polish remover. I also found that it seems to get a bit gungy if you leave the top off whilst painting your nails. OPI always seemed to stay the same consistancy.
Having said that, it does last well. I painted my nails on Monday and 5 days later they still look exactly the same. No chipping or peeling.
If you want to stay clear of formaldehyde then I recommend it. 8/10. |

Thank you for posting that! I am thinking of trying Zoya, just deciding on color. |

There's some really lush colours! I had a splurge and bought about 10 at once. Good job they're OK! |

LOL! I was just venturing on here to do a review of zoya cos I bought some as well after the thread in hte other forum.
Two days so far and not fallen off but I haven't done much really. What I am impressed with was how smooth htey went on and almost no bubbles (I always get bubbles ) even when I roll rather than shake |

Bubbles on your nails? I find I get them if I apply a too thick a coat. |

Phew! Thank goodness you both liked it!
sarah - Blimey, I've never noticed a strong smell with my Zoya. (Mind you, I do have constant hayfever/blocked nose.) I'll try and remember to give it a good old sniff next time I use it. As I always put the cap straight back on inbetween coats, I've never had a problem with the consistency. It does tend to be pretty thick, which means it coats well, but I can imagine that leaving the cap off might mean trouble.
guapa - Yes, even I (also supremely cackhanded - haven't heard that word for years!) can get this stuff to go on smoothly. And it only needs one coat with me. |

If any of you are wearing Zoya in light colors (I mean as close to clear polish as possible), do you do the base coat and top coat thing, too? I was hoping to use a light color with just a 1-2 coat application for the color only.
When I apply base and top coat, it tends to take much longer with all the dry time involved. |

Yes I always apply a base and top coat. I think the base coat helps to stop nails going yellow and the top coat helps stop chipping. It does mean it takes a while to dry but I find it's worth it as it lasts longer. |

Same here, but some base coats can actually help to lessen the drying time. |

I have one bottle of Zoya nail polish. I can't remember where I had boughten it, but I really liked the consistency and it's lasting power. |

I bought my first bottle of Zoya tonight. It's actually the first polish I've bought in over a year. A sheer pink color, almost clear. It looks very pretty on. I didn't not buy the base or top coat because I don't want to be bothered with those extra steps. Will see how long the polish holds up without the base and top coat. |
