I like to wash my hands as often as I can, especially in the winter since I'm really paranoid about getting sick. However, my hands are prone to dryness and eczema, so washing them, even with mild or moisturizing soap, often leaves them dry and cracking. I had been using some Burt's Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash that I had decanted into a pump to wash my hands because it was the mildest thing I had found, but even so I found that my hands were just too dry and itchy. However, today I poured some Baby Bee Apricot Oil into another pump bottle and placed it right next to the Shampoo and Wash pump. Then, when I went to wash my hands, I pumped out one squirt of Shampoo and Wash into my hands, and one squirt of the Apricot Oil, and then I washed my hands as usual. It was like a miracle! The oil moisturized my hands while I washed them, but the soap washed any residue away so after I rinsed and dried my hands weren't greasy at all--- just petal-soft and sweet-smelling. If anyone else has been struggling with dryness after washing their hands, I think this will help a lot! |

manslayerliz,
that is so funny! i have done a very similar thing lately. not liking my recent rosehip seed oil purchase, i relegated it to the shower, where i take one of those spongey-things, pour some soap into it, along with the oil, and scrub down my body. = very clean and nicely moisturized!
and can i just say how much i LOVE bathing in with a bit of oil? There is nothing more luxurious than just sitting in a warm (and clean) bathtub, and getting out and feeling silky and sexy and moisturized...

I'm sure you know this Ava, but be careful of those spongy things!!! They can become loaded with bacteria and cause eczema and rashes! |

This is such a great suggestion! I do struggle with washing my hands only about 1000 times a day, what with dishes, cleaning after the dogs, kids, bf, etc. Thanks, Liz. |

Smart idea!
Do you still need to use hand cream after you wash your hand? It will be nice if I don't have to do it every time. |

Thanks! Well, I still apply hand cream once or twice during the day, but even if I don't apply it, my hands feel SO much better after washing them with soap and oil instead of when I wash them with just soap. Also, it's not always convenient for me to put on lotion after I wash my hands, for example when I'm putting on make up or cooking, so this is really the perfect solution for me. |

I also have a bottle of rosehip oil I need to use up. Have to try it later tonight. My poor parched hands thank you. |

I know, same for me. I don't want to use handcreams when I'm cooking but I have to wash my hands often This sounds like the solution. Thanks manslayerliz |

Damn, you come up with some great ideas! I must try. Since winter started I have had problems with cracked dry bleeding knuckles from over washing my hands, while I found a cure (PSF's grapefruit lotion + SKB), I hate putting lotion on my hands (so they remain dry).
I thank you once again, for your never ending uses of BB's products. |

How about just mixing oil and soap in the same bottle? I think I'm gonna try that with my Neutrogena Body Oil. I don't really like it on my body, but wanna use it up. |

I can't wait to get some oil and try this out. My hands are dry from washing all the time too because I don't want to get the flu/cold. |

Great tip! I'm paranoid about my hands being dry because the skin will start to peel Must go and get some oils soon! Thanks! |

I thought about this, but I wondered if the two would just tend to separate without something to emulsify...? If you try it, please let us know how it goes! |

It would probably work. I've added olive oil to shampoo before.
Couldn't you just do this with any carrier oil? Or just olive oil from the kitchen? I don't think it necessarily would have to be something pre-made and packaged. I would think grapeseed or sweet almond would be good for this as they're both light oils and wouldn;t leave your hands greasy.
But it just seems like too much work for me! I'm supremely lazy! |

Oooh, I going to try adding some of those unused body oils/moisturizers that I have gotten as gifts to my soap dispensers! |

Thanks for the tip! I have the same problem with dryness. I should buy stock in some hand cream company I don't have any Burt's Bees on hand (no pun intended) but I think I'll have a go with a few drops of Jurlique's AHC. |

Nice trick! Especially for someone like me who is lazy to put handcream/body cream after showers. |

Anyone try putting the oil and cleanser in the same pump? If so, did it work well, or would you have to shake it up before use each time? |

Nice methods to try! My hand is very dry in winter, though my skin is oily in nature. |
