I decided to cut my losses and toss the tubes of Retin A 0.05% I ordered online. The main reason because it is too strong for me. Initially I thought of diluting it by half but I am not sure adding my own carrier would affect absorption. Using half as much would be impossible to spread and may not be equal to a lower strength.
My skin is also dry, so in addition to going down to 0.025% I also switched to Renova instead.
My question - will this more emollient cream base make it easier to spread too? With the Retin A it was hard to do so on dry skin.

| Most definitely..yes!. Renova goes on more like a regular cream while retin-a would tug & pull.I wish I could get the .025% in canada, we only get the .05%. |

| I switched to Tazorac which has the same ingredients & less irritation. It might also be something of interest to you. |

| can you get Renova off the net instead of having to get a perscription from a doctor? |

| If you're in Canada (I assume) even your dentist can prescribe it...besides as far as I know, you can get on a u.s. website but you'll end up paying a lot more for it. Last time I checked (o.k. a few years now) renova was $45 cdn vs about $100. u.s. |

Hello
Careful about ordering RX's on line from places like Canada and Mexico. I once ordered some Benezclin and Tazorac before I could get in to see my Derm. One order I placed, the product came half empty and took a lifetime for delivery, when I called and explained that the containers were half empty (looked used) they told me that they don't fill up the bottles due to the fact they expand in shipping. They were clearly used. Also, they list them as Tazorac or Benezclin but when you get them, they come in odd bottles or containers that are not named what they should be. The second time I "reordered" from the same site, I applied the Tazorac and my entire face was burning HOT on fire...I broke out in a horrible rash that actually made my skin peel and expose open flesh. Again, when I called I was told, sometimes labels and products get messed up when filling. They would give me a refund. My Derm said they are not "true" products, that is why they sell them cheap and sometimes without a RX. Buyer beware.  |

| I looked at the site & I was a bit confused as to whether they were selling renova or retin-a & called it renova.They also don't provide a picture of what you're buying..makes me a bit nervous. The prices are a little TOO cheap. |

Really? Even the dentist can prescribe it? So, basically any walk-in clinics' doctors can prescribe it? Please tell me its true  |

| Well, my dentist prescribed for me..I think it just depends on how well they know you. I'm sure it's not something they advertise, but technically they're allowed. Barring that, when my prescription lapsed, I've called my GP & he just phoned the pharmacy with a prescription. This is for Canada..you are in Canada, aren't you.. |

| The best way to apply is to press it into the skin instead of rubbing. You won't have to switch and you will save way more product. |

Hi everybody. I just ordered a 30 gm. tube of Renova, 0.05%, from medsmex.com I was leary to order pharmaceuticals from Mexico, but I have in the past and have been pleased with the products I purchased. I spoke to several ladies from EDS and they assured me they too were pleased with their puchases. By the way, the tube of Renova I just bought was only $12.50 USD. I have previously purchased Retin-A and it was the real thing. It worked as well as the Retin-A I've paid $120 for from the pharmacy!
P.S. I just went to the "inhouse" pharmacy someone on this thread recommended for Retin-A and they had that product, but are no longer carrying Renova. |

| Renova is much easier to spread over the face. Monica, an idea would be to purchase Obagi Blender. It is meant to be "blended with Retin-A (in it's original, impossible to blend form), and claims to enhance penetration of the retin-a. It also is 4% hydroquonine, which seriously helps with pigmentation. Some are leary of hydroquonine (not me) but just a heads up. |

Retin A can be used mixed with OBAGI BLENDER.
It makes it very easy and smooth to apply.
A pea size amount of obagi blender, and then add the Retin A. Mix in your palm with your finger until mixed, then apply. |
