I'm 22 turning 23 in a few months, and notice the crowsfeet-esque lines around my eyes, especially when i smile. I've been thinking about using an eye cream, but was just wondering if it'd be a good idea to start so early... |

Eye cream should be used by everyone over the age of 20. |

I wish I had started using eye cream at your age! The skin is so delicate it seems like it would make sense to keep it protected and hydrated at any age. I use PSF superhydrating eye cream and like it a lot. Maybe some younger experts will come by with their recommendations. My 20 year old daughter uses Zia ultimate eye cream and seems to like it. |

Guess I'll have to start my eyecream research then!
I was just afraid of starting early with such sensitive skin and didn't know the 'rules' of adding one in, thanks ladies! |

I've used eye creams since I was maybe 16, cos of lack of sleep and I wanted something to soothe my eyes. So ever since 16, I've religiously used eye creams morning and night and although I do have a few fine lines when I smile, I think they are normal, I dont think anyone can have no lines around their eyes at all.
I've used cheapo brands when I was younger but now, I use branded eye creams, which seems to go a long way than the cheapo ones! |

I started using eye cream since age 20. Thanks to one of my girlfriends reminded me the importance of keeping eye area looking young. I agree with Yeahyeah, when you are young some of the drugstore brands are sufficient to protect and hydrate. |

any specific recommendations regarding a drugstore brand? My lines aren't terribly noticeable (i think i'm the only one who can actually see them ) but I've realized the importance of prevention (grr, old acne picking scars and brown spots)
My skin tends to 'get used' to a product overtime, so I'd like to save the big guns for when they are really needed, for now i guess i'm just looking for some extra hydration.
Currently I'm not using a moisturizer at all, only the silken pearl paste (i have/had super oily skin) |

Dove's Energy Glow Brightening Eye Cream
with SPF 8 is lovely - has a creamy and milky texture it hydrates and protects you from the sun as well. |

yea i would be interested to know as well what eye cream would be best for 20-25 or 20-29 age range. I am 24 by the way, thankx.
For now i just use the face moisturizer on the eye dunno if that is like 2 harsh lol dnt have a particular eye cream i had this vitamin e one before from the body shop but ran out so i started applying the harmonie moisturizer from decleor range which i have the sample of. I thought since it says soothing it shouldnt be too harsh
i put in the age range is because most eye creams nowadays are for older age ranges as they promote it saying for "wrinkles". I dont want to end up using an eye product that is catered towards an older age range and making a non worse situation worse |

For you younger ones, I would recommend starting with an eye gel rather than an eye cream. Some eye creams may be too rich for you and your skin won't be able to absorb it, thus developing those teeny tiny little bumps. |

Hmmm, I should keep that in mind considering I already have oily, acne=prone skin.
Any recs for a lighter creams/ gel? Perhaps I'll have to make a trip to the drugstore tomorrow. |

I am almost in the age, but I do not have any visible problem in the eye area if I have enough sleep. I have been using kiehl avocado eye cream for one year. It is very moisturizing and the price is also reasonable. |

At your age, I think Olay, Pond's or Loreal should be good enough! |

plus, you really should start putting sunscreen around the eyes as well, since you are already seeing some lines. |

I started using eye stuff about a year ago (I'm 25), and I would suggest to you DHC products. I know you said you wanted drugstore brand, but the DHC products aren't that much more expensive than what you'd get at the drugstore.
In the morning I use DHC Eye Bright-- it's a gel, very light. It hydrates and brightens. At night I use the Co-Q10 eye cream. It's also very light, it lightens with alpha arbutin and hydrates. You could use this in the day as well, if you wanted to. I've used these products for a long time and neither have ever caused a breakout.
I've also used the Concentrated Eye Cream. I liked it a lot, but it's a bit more rich, and better for winter.www.dhccare.com
PS. The Eye Bright is on sale right now for $15! |

usually when it comes to my face, price is not an issue especially considering how much I've already invested!
I'm not specifically looking for a drugstore brand, just something simple to use as more of a preventative measure. I was just trying to save the 'good stuff' for when the wrinkles are more of an issue.
I will look into DHC though, i always enjoy a sale! |

Even though I'm only 26, I've been trying to use an eye cream ever since I graduated college. I'm terrible about it, since it was never part of my routine before and I'm slow to incorporate new things, but I recently decided it really needed to be a priority since I'm starting to notice my first few fine lines. I just ordered a full size of Best Bath Store's Intensive eye cream, even though I found it to be very rich - I just think rich is better when it comes to that area. Even if it is "too" rich for me, I'd rather flood it with moisture now than have it be dried out later in life. I find I actually like how my makeup goes on better when I have super-hydrated eye area skin - as long as you don't let it migrate too far, it won't make you break out or anything. |

The DHC line do seem interesting and reasonably priced. Where is this line from, Japan or States? What are your other favorites from this line other than the eye cream? |

It is interesting to see the replies to this request for information. I don't believe age has anything to do with when you need to use eye creams or moisturisers for that matter. All skin is different and age is just a number. Go with what you need when you need it. But be aware of water based products - water does evaporate after all and of course that leads to drier skin.
Good luck. |

Im 22 nearly 23 as well and i have been using Liz Earle daily eye repair for the last year and i think it is lovely.
Its a light weight cream with SPF10 mineral sunscreen and it contains reflective particles to brighten and conceal dark circles and it helps to keep the eye zone smooth and supple.
I initially bought this product from QVC and I'm not sure if you will find it in the shops in the US as there are only two Liz Earle shops here in the UK but i do know that they have a website which ships worldwide. The website iswww.lizearle.com

Hi! It sounds like we have similar problems. I have oily, acne prone skin and I've started to get the little lines and dark circles. I've been using Amazing Eye Serum from Principal Secret for a month now and I'm pretty satisfied. It makes the skin around my eyes feel a lot better and it hasn't given me any breakouts. I'm 27 and my grandma taught me that it's never too early to take care of yourself. She put on face cream every day and night for as long as I can remember, and didn't really get wrinkles around the eyes till right before she died in her eighties. In the sixties, everyone thought she was insane for nagging my mother to stay out of the sun. She wasn't crazy, just way ahead of her time. You can probably tell that she was the one who gave me a love for skin care and beauty products. I hope this helped a little. Sorry for the rant.....I still miss her. |

my dermotologist told me that non of the eye creams in the market can go deep enough to reduce the lines...she said the only thing i could do if i wanted to was to use a face mousturizer and putt alittle pit around my eyes as well...she said its like the nearly the same thing, and that i didnt need to get two seprate creams... |
