I wear a vinyl headband (no teeth) to push them back. It takes me 10-15 minutes to put my make-up on (mostly to do my eyes) and when I take the headband off, I end up with a part in my bangs and sometimes a cowlick. I have fine hair and wear mybangs straight across my forehead.
I don’t use curling irons or hair dryers, so those are not options. I’ve tried spritzing with water, but then my bangs go flat.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - I have more bad hair days because of this problem than any other reason.

Why dont you just sweep them to the side and/or pin them with a bobby pin?
My Mom used to use a loose cloth head band to hold hers back. |

| When my bangs are straight across my forhead, I don't apply any makeup on my it .. Maybe you can set your bangs to the side with a bobby pin, like Vonstella suggested. |

Bobby pins don't stay in my hair because it's so fine, but I'm going to try it with one of those mini hair clamp/barrettes.

| My hair is baby fine and doesn't hold a curl even with curling irons. I use a large round brush and roll my bangs up to my hairline and when the makeup is finished down it comes. What little bit of poof I get is gone within the hour. |

I have a short forehead, so my bangs aren't long enough to wrap around a brush and keep it in place. But I just tried your suggestion with a velcro roller I have. My bangs don't wrap around all the way, but it might be enough to keep the roller in place for 15 minutes (if I can keep the scratchy thing off my forehead!). Another good idea to try out! I would love for my bangs to have some poof!

Are those the long silver clips? I think I might have a couple somewhere in my dresser. I'll have to take a look for them and try it out.

| I shower in the mornings so I have a towel wrapped around my hair until I finish all my skincare/makeup which is when I go blow dry my hair. I generally don't apply much makeup to my forehead though (bangs or not) but I just use one hand to sweep them on the side, sweep a little powder with the other hand and voila. Bobby pins are a good choice, just find tighter/smaller ones, I find most black ones are way too long for my fine hair. Or use those pear-shaped clips - I like them better than bobby pins but I don't know their official name. |

I need both hands when I put one my eyeliner! lol
I didn't know you could get smaller, tighter bobby pins! But about those pear-shapped clips you mentioned - are those the silver ones -- triangular with an opening in the middle? I was first thinking of those when Rufus mentioned the hairdresser clips, but then I realized she probably meant the long silver ones.
I don't know the official name either  Maybe someone else will.

| I have the smaller bobby pins. I find them better than the bigger sized ones.. They have better grip and fit on your bangs more tight. I bought them at Sally Beauty. |

| Those clips are what I mean! The smaller ones seem to be more expensive and you'll have to go to a Beauty supply store or something of the sort to get them but you only need 2 anyways! But sometimes I don't like bobby pins because I find them hard to put on my hair sometimes especially the tighter ones, I love those clips, easily accessible, cheap and they come in varying sizes! |

Same here--they won't dent your hair and they hold even my fine hair quite well. |

| I use those clips that people use to clip huge hair rollers. got them at Sally's. They're big and they hold alot of my lion mane type hair , no denting and does the job. |

| I have long bangs (down to my chin), so I just tie them up loosely on top of my head when I apply cream/lotion, etc, so they don't get in the way. When I untie them, they don't get any wrinkles in them. But I have thick strands of hair, so maybe it's harder to curl them. In fact, I know it's very hard to curl them. Even perming my hair takes 40 mins of leaving solution in it, not 20 mins like other people. |

| When I had bangs what I did was that after a shower when my hair is still wet, I'll sweep it up and away from my face while I did my makeup-base/foundation first, then I'll go style my hair the way I wish, and return to do my eyes, cheeks etc |

poohlisey - those smaller bobby pins may come in handy when I need to keep some strands in place. Thanks for letting me know I can find them at Sally's. I'll check them out next time I get down to the US, which will be soon, I hope (there's no Sally's in Montreal )
sormuimui - good, now I know which ones you mean! (I still don't know what they're call, though!) Thanks! Are those clips sold individually?

Thanks everyone!  I'll use your suggestions and experiment with the things I already have for now (which is just the small clamp barrette and velcro roller - thought I had a couple of those long silver clips, but guess not) and will check out the hairdresser clips (both kinds) and small bobby pins on my next trip to Sally's. Might even look for them here if I get impatient!
