Of skincare products. It seems I've tried everything and nothing works. Then I ask myself, why should it work? if the products did work I'd buy one and never another one and the industry would collapse.
So basically I'm looking for a more natural cure for my skin problem. I get like red spots on my cheeks that aren't bumps at all, it's just where small spots of skin are red. Then the same on my chin although some of those are red bumps. On my left cheek I've had a swallon bump for months. It's full of puss because when I put 2 fingers either side it turns white and on several occasions I've managed to pop it and tons of the stuff comes out and the bum goes for a couple of days and then just comes back. It seems like I just can't get rid of it.
I've heard of a few remedies for spots like honey, sometimes I put honey on the areas before I go to bed and after a week of doing that I think there is a mild improvement. I also heard that squeezing lemon drops into water every day works wonders. I know there are mixtures you can make with household products for your blemeshes that work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I have many friends who swear by pure tea tree oil dabbed on blemishes. I have used it on poisen ivy and it worked well.

Daniel,
It sounds like you need to schedule a visit to a dermatologist. Your swollen bump sounds like a cyst and needs to be either drained or treated with a course of antibiotics to kill the bacteria that is causing it to fill up. If you let that go too long, you may end up with a scar. Tea tree oil is a great antiseptic but it sounds like you need professional assistance to get you started on the right path.Good Luck! |

Yeah, that swollen bump might need to be introduced to a doctor/derm.
With the red skin and the little bumps that you have, have you actually seen a Derm about them at any stage? If you haven't then it might be wise to make sure you don't have something like rosacea for example (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/2469.htm). I know there are products that help control rosacea (Pevonia make some excellent ones apparently) but first you need to get a professional opinion.

Try dabbing toothpaste on your spots before going to bed - don't know how or why - but it actually works and should clear up within a week or so.

Just like what Mabys and Betterat40 says, you may want to see a demartologist/skin doctor to make sure what you're experiencing is not life threatening ie: cancer of the skin. Don't mean to alarmed you, but it's better to see a professional on skin problems.
Good Luck! |

To be honest, I don't think it's cancer or anything too serious. My spots don't look different to other people's spots so I'm not too worried about that. I am slightly worried about the bump on my cheek but again, it's a very slight bump of the skin and it has reduced dramatically since it cropped up about a month ago.
I know I'm just making exscuses for not seeing my doctor. I really should I just can't bring myself to do it. |

Me again. I was wondering, does anyone know what doctors generally prescribe for mild acne? and does it work? |

Daniel,
I think it depends where you are. My local GP prescribed lots of water and exercise to one girl I know and another with slightly worse acne was put on the pill. Not really an option for you, my love! I expect that in the states you may have more luck in getting something prescribed. I know that my daughter who is 13 wants to see the Dr about her acne, but kinda feels that he won't help much. There are lots of threads here that recommend various products that help and if you email the estheticians at EDS, they can give you a more detailed routine and product advice. Let us know what works, as it may help others, Oh and I don't recommend forking out good money for these cured in 3 days e-books, despite what you may read on forums! |

If it is cystic acne, your derm will more than likely put you on a course of antibiotic. That is really the only thing that this type of acne responds to.
I had this same issue when I was younger. the things that worked best for me was antibiotics (when things got out of hand) clindagel, which is a topical antibiotic and retin-A.
I agree that seeing a derm is your best bet, especially if it has been there for a couple of months. At the very least, he can help it go away faster and help prevent reoccurance.

Thank you everyone, you've been very helpful.
I heard doctors sometimes prescribe Benzoyl Peroxide for acne which you can actually buy over the counter so I think I'm going to give that a try first. |
