Ok.. I have decided on these products to help improve dehydration and fine lines around my eyes , to help with minor monthy breakouts and clogged pores and to even out slightly blotchy skin.

Cleanser: Osea Cleansing Mudd
Toner: Caudalie Beauty Elixer
SPF: Jan Marini SPF
Vit C Serum: Cellular Skin Rx C + Firming Serum
AHA: MD Formulations Continuous Renewal Serum (nightly)
BHA: PSF Pumpkin Enzyme Peel (weekly)
Retinol: PSF Retinol Nite Repair 1% Active Retinol (is this too strong for first time user?)

What do you all think? Are these good products??? I chose them due to reviews and affordability.

I would really appreciate your opinions before I place order later today.

THANKS HEAPS, bubbilator Very Happy

Have you concidered the AHA/BHA combo all in one product fromwww.ifeelpretty products.com? Gives you both AHA and BHA in one liquid product. Nice cost, well formulated, and effective yet mild.

This productline has gotten some great reviews also.

hi bubbilator,

i read on another thread that you are only 27, perhaps you are experiencing the first signs of aging and want to nip them in the bud? It is a good idea, but i think you are going a bit overboard here. I personally do not see why you would need a daily aha serum--for your skin, an aha peel once weekly should be more than enough. your skin is still turning over, i'm sure, quite normally on its own, and if you overdo it with the acids, you will incur skin damage and in the end, you will age faster. Also, you should try this trick: drink tons and tons of water (2-3liters spread out through the day, not more than that) for about a week and let us know if you see much improvement in your fine lines. They are most likely dehydration lines, in which case a lot of water and an hylauronic acid serum would be great measures to take.

Here, I will address your product choices:
1. osea ocean cleansing mudd: this is a very intense treatment cleanser, with very active ingredients. if you are going to go the osea route, i suggest you get small sizes of all three cleansers, and experiment as to how they work on your skin. i think you will find that the cleansing milk does an excellent job at keeping skin clean and healthy, and it works very well with acids, since it doesn't interfere with them. unless you have very oily skin, a full size mud cleanser for everyday might be too much.
2. AHA serum--I agree with tangal, i would get a serum that you can use whenever you want a little more pore cleansing/exfoliation, but at your age I would not be stripping the layers of your skin every night with that AHA nightly serum. The i feel pretty products seem well-formulated and very nice. I would start out using this 3x per week--making sure that you don't overexfoliate your skin.
3. pumpkin peel--i love this product. i would only use it once a week to get rid of dead skin potentially left by your use of a retinol product. also, i would invest in a hydrating mask too in order to balance your skin after using the exfoliating peel. my favorite is osea's white algae gel mask, but psf has an organic moisture mask too.
4. SC retinol is most certainly going to be too much for you. start with the 0.5%. i used the .5% for 6 months before i switched to the 1%, and i can only use the 1% once per week, otherwise it leaves my skin constantly peeling and red and itchy. now i use differin 5x per week, and SC once a week. again, you just don't want to put your skin under so much stress and never give it time to heal itself, or else you will end up aging even more in the end.

--what about a moisturizer and HA serum? what do you plan on using? a lot of combination skins on this forum have great results with oils and HA serum mixed together, since they absorb much easier.

keep us posted!

--avalange

p.s. the spf and the toner seem like fine choices to me.

I do hope you're not planning to start on all those at once. I must say I can't really understand the raves for the PSF Pumpkin peel - it felt way too harsh for me. Also instead of retinol, why not consider retinaldehyde?

Wow.. thankyou for your reply avalange. I am so glad I am getting your opinions!!!

Daily Moist: I thought I would just use the Jan Marini SPF as my daily moisturiser, with the Vit C serum underneath... what do you think?

AHA/BHA: With regards to the AHA/BHA, I'm hearing you there!! The IFeelPretty products do sound great, but they dont post to OZ! So I think I'll go for a homegrown remedy called ASAP Clearskin Gel (Ingredients: Salicylic Acid 2%/AHA 15.5% buffered to pH 3.7) Is that too strong??

Cleanser: What about the JB AlphaDerma Organic Cleanser?

Retinol: So SC 0.5% is ok?

HA Serum: Do you think I would need a HA serum and a Vit C serum? or just the HA serum?

Thanks so much for this .. I really, really appreciate it Razz

Hi bubbilator

Oh to be 27 again (if that's true to your age)! I hope we don't sound too scoldy towards you but I have to agree with the other posters that these products seem pretty aggressive. AHAs are good but I don't think they should be used on a daily basis even if you are 50 years old. Retinol is really mild and if you do plan to use it I doubt this would be too exfoliating on your skin compared to retinaldehyde and Retin-A. I used to use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream when I was in my mid- to late-twenties. By the time the Retinol gets converted in your skin (because it needs that extra step in the conversion towards tretinoin), your skin will only get a very minute amount of tretinoin.

I only see one major anti-wrinkle, anti-sagging, anti-spot weapon: SUNSCREEN. Make sure you get a stable sunscreen with high SPF and a good PPD (to block UVA). There are tons that others consider holy grail but the ultimate one depends on your skin and your lifestyle. I wished I knew about sunscreen and staying in the shade more often when I was in my 20s.

Good luck!

YES, PSF Retinol Nite Repair 1% Active Retinol is too strong for first time user. You should work your way up slowly with .5%.
