Big news ladies.......while on an errand for my attorney boss, I happened to see and enhancement center and was intrigued. I stopped in and finally caved......I am scheduled for Botox next week!!!! YAY!!!! I resisted for the past five years, but I am tired of fixating on my soon to be 40 year old forehead lines. Does $385.00 sound about right for one CC. I hope that she can spare a bit for my crows feet!!!

When you think about it, all of us spend quite a bit of money on topical products. I probably average at least $50.00 a month. If I can get away with utilizing Botox 3 times per year, it would be worth it to actually see results for my money.

Please share your botox experiences. I am curious.

Good for you belledivine67! A couple of years ago, I had developed the dreaded \/ between my eyes. I had been spending very long hours squinting at my monitor at work, which is how I got them, and I absolutely hated them.

Botox completely erased them. In my case, the botox lasted a little more than six months. The second time, it lasted even longer, which I understand is common.

I also have deepset eyes and was always looking for ways to achieve a subtle lift and my derm was able to do that for me with botox.

Normally, I would be long overdue for a refresher, but there doesn't seem to be any need. I don't know whether it's due to the introduction of a couple of new products, or the fact that I've been using the Quasar. Whatever it is, I'm not complaining. But, I also won't hesitate to go in again if I think I need it. I was delighted with the results.

I think the price varies a little based on geography, but $385 sounds "in the range." Sometimes, you see Botox offered for a ridiculously low price. When that's the case, although it might be something that is done as a "promotion" of sorts, I always get suspicious and wonder if the serum hasn't been watered down.

Sorry, but I hate botox.
I've had about 4 rounds of it over the years, and find it just does not last on me. It does freshen around the eyes a lot, but I like things to be permanent.
For me these temp things last about 6 weeks.

Good Luck. I'm just different Confused . Hope it lasts on you...
Let us know post, how it looks.

Hi Belle, I agree with Katee, I think you are going to love the effects of Botox. About 10 years ago (I'm 47 now! Do the math....) I had developed not the common "11" between the eyes, but the rare, but dreaded "1" (maybe they merged???? Bad Grin .At the end of the day I literally had to dig the makeup out of the groove. My derm suggested Botox and it was absolutely incredible. No trace of the groove exists today, and I often will go 6-7 months between treatments. My derm says this is not uncommon, the muscles actually "forget" to return to their previous scowl. I also get a bit of the eyelift effect. A good derm will know where to place the Botox to achieve certain results. I pay 325 in SF, so $385 sounds reasonable. The price partially depends on how much Botox is used, and how many sites are treated. Let us know how you like it...it can take 3-5 days to see the full results.

Hi belledivine67! I'm going in tomorrow for my first time! I just couldn't stand it anymore. I'm hoping that it takes away the tightness that I feel between my eyebrows, and the little lines that have formed since I've been on this forum, of course. I think the thought of them caused me to worry about it and I started the habit of frowning in my sleep, which I never did before. Laughing Hadn't even known that such a thing existed before then...

I live in South Louisiana and am going to a spa where there are physicians and the cost is 13 dollars a unit. At my consultation I was told that I would probably be paying $125-$150. If it works then its worth it. Wish me luck and tell us how it goes.

I loved the effects of Botox too, it gave a great whole forehead lift and smooth,as well as got rid of the 11's, and yes, it lasted over six months.

Great stuff!

Let us know how you like it. I've heard it starts to last longer the more you have it done in some people.

OK you botox lovers--I'd like to know one thing--did it hurt? I'd like to get it in my "11" and I have one forehead line. If any of you used a numbing cream, did it take away the pain completely? I just read somewhere, don't know where, that botox is poison and in small amts. it's ok. No one knows what long term usage will bring about and that's what worries me! I've been dying to get it done though, but scared at the same time!

lefemme, I don't think it hurts that bad...but I have a high tolerance for pain, esp. when it yields such great results! The first Dr. I had did not even offer numbing cream, but he was fairly young and really took his time, I barely even felt the stings. Here in SF my derm works very quickly and it is definitely a bit more painful. She offers the numbing cream, I tried it once and didn't think it made much difference. And it is greasy and makes for a shiny forehead...I now just pinch my arms and bear it!

They will numb you up, and it doesn't hurt. Its a fine fine needle. There are different numbing creams. My clinic uses one with 3 very strong ingredients, some clinics use numbing cream with only 2 ingredients, and a lot weaker.

If you want another idea, you can also apply ice for a min before they inject on top of the numb cream... (I'm sure they will allow this, it's just ice).

Don't you guys worry that you're having poison injected into your bloodstream? That's what puts me off.

It's only a small amount of poison. Well worth the risk.

Botox has been a big disapointment for me. All I want it for is the 11 lines between my eyes from too much damn studying. Tried 3 different docs, each a couple of times - but nada, nothing, zip. A surgeon recommended I get the muscle cut - but it sounds too drastic. I am sososososo jealous that it works so well for other people.

Ouch, cutting the muscles sounds too painful to even think about.

Belledivine, hope you have the best results with your botox. I so far have not tried it b/c both my mom and sister tried it and told me not to get it.

Cutting the muscles?! Strewth! What if you end up with your forehead hanging over your eyes?!! Wink

Seriously, can they get rid of the laughter lines around your eyes? Is it safe to inject poison around your eye? What if they hit your eyeball? What if they use too much and you can't close your eyes?! I'm fortunate that for someone that's now ... gulp.... 3 with a 9 on the end, gulp, I don't have any 11's or forehead lines but I would like to do something about the lines around my eyes but I'm a bit of a wuss for the reasons above!

I think they have sensible sober individuals doing it... It's not like you'd get me after a few voddys!

I am phobic about needles so I don't think I could have it done especially near my eyes, but has anyone had it in their necks? How long does it last?

botox is fabulous, but like all of these things, you have to do regular maintenance. i have found that the best way is to pay "by the unit" vs. "by the area." seems that if you pay by the unit you really get what you need, not just what they want to inject (if you pay by the area).........i regularly pay $10. per unit in scottsdale, az and find that i have to go in about 3 times a year. don't wait until it "needs" to be done - go in slightly before you "need to" and it will look better and last longer. good luck!

do you all think it would be ok to get botox while on accutane??

I get Botox injections every 5 or so months, but my derm will be putting me soon on a low dose course of Accutane for some frequent cysts I've been having lately.

It doesn't seem like a hazard to me, but what do you all think?
