I am tired of spending a ton of money on everything ...I work 3 jobs and am getting tapped out. Can anyone recommend a really good do it yourself facial that will give results you get fro going to a spa? I need to save money. Thanks |

You will also have to invest in a pore-cleaning tool, and do it gently, of course. Extraction, in my opinion, is the main reason to have someone else do a facial. Anyone can do most of the other parts of the facial easily themselves.
One strategy is to cut down on one's facials at salons, but when there, direct the person to the parts of the face you can't easlity see or access yourself when you do your own (jawline, botton of chin, sides of nose...?). |

I do my own facials. I have the facial steamer but I do not have the extraction tool. I know you can purchase it online.
You should also invest in good quality products. All you have to do is follow these four steps:
1. Cleanse
2. Exfoliate
3. Mask
4. Moisterize
You can steam your face after the cleansing of the skin.
When I do get facials, the esthetician always comlpiment me on my skin. Since I do them myslef I do not need to go the spa often. Make sure you exfoliate at least once a week. |

you could steam your face over hot water in a pan.
Yoghurt & fruit mash (I have used banana and strawberry depending on the season) is great for the skin and to remove blackheads.
Egg white is also very good for the skin - I scrap the two ends when I break an egg to make an omelette. That's enough to cover the face.
Honey is a fantastic moisturiser. Though, please check if you are allergic or not to honey.
Rosewater (store it in the fridge) is a very good skin toner - the best I have tried.
Hope this helps. |

Which kind of extraction tool do you recommend? i've seen some that will suck out the blackheads without pressing anything.. any comment on that? |

Yoghurt, banana and honey is great for skin. Yoghurt is great for sun-burn too.
if you clean your skin regularly, I do not need to extract the black heads specifically (maybe I am doing it all wrong!).
I do use decleor products which exfoliates etc. |

There are some great suggestions here!
Just to add to the suggestion of steaming your face over a bowl of hot water...I love doing this (and should do it more often!), and I always ADD A FEW DROPS OF ESSENTIAL OIL to the water. You can be practical and add lavender for any skin condition, or cedar, tea tree or eucalyptus for congested skin.
If you steam before bed you could use something exotic (and benificial to skin) like neroli, rose or jasmine. A facial should also be relaxing, and a tonic to the spirit...that's part of the fun!
I also use Rosewater as a toner (or body spritz), but I like orange blossom water even better!!! Sometimes I blend the two together when I can't decide. These waters are readily available at Middle Eastern / Mediterranean stores, and have virtually NO additives!!! |

My DIY Facial routine changes but tonight:
-- Cleanse with Cetaphil/OCM
-- Steam with wet washcloth that's been microwaved for 1 minute, with a squirt of rosewater on it. Very steamy and lovely, just be careful with it!
-- Exfoliate with EpiDermXII
-- Mask with QHMJM
-- Tone with AppleCider Vinegar
-- Moisturize with.. whatever I feel it needs at that point. Maybe jojoba/macadamia nut oil, maybe even Vaseline, or Burt's Bees diaper lotion actually smells great!
I'm working on improving skin color and evenness, and I would say that EpiDermXII makes a huge difference. |

use cotton pad to soak with milk and apply on entire face. Afterwards, you will find your complexion more even and soft. |

I've found the aspirin mask, OCM and apple cider vinegar toner have given the best results and are really cheap! |

The most natural face masque you can use is using egg whites. Beat it and put on your face for half hour. Do this when you eat an egg This is the best without spending a lot of money on your face and it works!!!

I know how busy you are, but you have to think about yourself sometimes. Please take some time for yourself, pamper yourself without spending an arm and a leg.... If you work 3 jobs, you will be burn-out! This is not good. Even the most expensive facial masque or moisturizers won't be of a help! If we get stressed, it shows in our face and body and how we feel!
So slow down
