Hi!
I've only been to TO and Vancouver once and didn't have a lot of time to explore.
I'm looking for stores that sell jewellery from local designers or even a stand-alone store that sells pieces that you can't find a mass retailers.
You know, the kind of stores you need to live there to know they exist.
Everyone knows where to find Holt's, Gucci, etc.
I really appreciate this!
PS: These stores have to be able to take phone orders. |

Main Street in Vancouver is a haven for stores like these! Favs along that strip are Narcissist, Eugene Choo, Smoking Lily (screen printed clothing), Johnathan + Olivia, Umeboshi (great shoes), and plenty of cool consignment stores. Have fun shopping! |

I agree with dollbird, you could also try Blue Ruby and Hills on Kerrisdale. If you google blue ruby you'll find their site, they're mainly a jewelry store that features local designers, they used to be just a small department in Hills but now have opened quite a few stores in the main malls.
A note on their site though, it features VERY few things compared to the actual store. |

There are lots of great local artisans in Toronto and the greater Toronto area. If you're ever in the north end of the city, make your way up to the town of Kleinberg where you will find "Jeremy's Workshop". It is in a historical building and they have a section where you can see some of the crafters working on jewellery pieces right there in front of you. I have been shopping and browsing there ever since I can remember. I love going there. They always have really great unique pieces. There are tons of others but this is the only one that comes to mind right now. If I think of anything else, I'll be sure to post. What type of jewellery are you looking for exactly? Let us know as that will maybe help get you some more tips and suggestions. |

I don't know what kind of jewellery you want.
I've bought some diamond and gemstone jewllery at Ragnar in Vancouver. They got a store at Oakridge Centre and one at Granville Street. The owner is very nice and friendly. You can visit their website atwww.ragnar.ca |

I'm looking for rings, necklaces.
I'm looking for something unique, not something that everyone and their dog has 10 of.
By the way, Blue Ruby was an excellent suggestion! Thanks guys! |

Vancouver: approach Hope Unlimited, Plum Clothing Company, and perhaps Changes. |

I've found some nice and unique jewelry pieces on Granville Island.
Some examples:

Aurum-Argentum Goldsmith (bought a great necklance with interchangeable colored gems here)
Circle Craft Coop (lots of different designers rotate their designs here) |
