This brand doesn't seem popular on any forum. But I have the impression that it is good for oily skin. Does anyone recommend it? |

My sister in law has very oily skin and is a loyal user. She uses the oil. I always wondered why she used oil on oily skin. She explained if you remove oil with harsh products, the skin makes too much oil. She also uses the black soap. I think she uses the whole line. She has used it since her 20's and she is now in her mid 50's and looks really good. |

The Erno Laszlo line was my first real "adult" skincare experience (after Clinique). I received a card with my "time". I was a 3:00 PM which meant very oily. I loved the line but it was a real commitment! Two different soaps, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, toner, a control product, powder...I think there is stuff I'm forgetting. But you have to rinse with soapy water with 20 splashes or so, then 20 splashes with clean warm running water. It was complicated, but I did it and it did make my skin look good. I stopped using it because I just could not afford it (It was outrageously expensive back then, but now that we are talking about 160.00 blush, it was probably just expensive )
I think the company lost its way for awhile but is now back to its old system.
One thing about Laszlo gals, they are obsessive about the brand. There is no in between!
Hummm, maybe I'll just check the website... |

you can tweek you "clock" to fit your skins needs. Iam between a 11:30-12:00 dry/normal and I mix products but also use other lines as well. if you have oily skin it is a good line-I do not do all the splashing and when Iam using the line it does not seem to make a difference. |

I bought the black soap and got amazing samples but it was so time consuming. Plus it made my sink dirty with the left over stuff and it was just too much work. However, I do think that it made my skin better although the moisturizer was too drying for my skin. I had to apply it twice. |

The 20x rinsing is the only thing I kept from this line I used 30 years ago. It is an excellent policy.
It was a great line for me, oily acne-prone in 90+% humidity. Then I moved to NYC and just didn't have room for such a regimen in the tiny bathroom I shared with my bf. |

Do you do the rinsing with the Erno Laszlo soap or with any old cleanser? I only ask because I did feel like my skin was more hydrated with the splashes but didn't like the soap residue. |

I did my splashes with the sea mud soap and then the evening soap (can't remember name). I don't think they had any other cleansers for very oily skin when I was using the line almost 30 years ago! |

I used Erno Lazlo for some time, but later found that Vit C serum works better for me. |

Erno Laszlo can be purchased at Holt Renfrew in Montreal and Vancouver. Also, a new store has started carrying it in Toronto - it is called "NOOR". If you check the Laszlo website and click on Retailers - Canada - all contact info will be provided. |

Thank you all. I think I am going to try the sea mud soap and the toner. The entire set seems too complicated. |

That's why I stopped...they insisted on using the whole system..quite a lot when you run out at the same time. Don't fall for that though. In my opinion, the soap, light controlling lotion (if you can handle alcohol) and the phelityl oil were the products I liked. |

Does the SA at the counter push really hard for the whole system? I hate it when the SA does that. |

Well..I guess, it's her job & EL dosen't sell itself . All you have to say is you just want the soapd or whatever..they may have a starter kit that may be worth you while. If there is one, she's sure to try to sell it. |

You mean you don't remember the 'special skin soap'?? That was the 3 o'clock soap. Naturally, I was a 2 o'clock back then & had to use BOTH soaps (alternate) & BOTH toners... |

Ah yes, Special Skin Soap and wasn't there a Controlling Lotion and then that weird "Normalizer Shake-it" (and Normalized Shake-it light)! which I actually quite liked. It looked terrible going on but then really began to look natural after "buffing it" with the Controlling loose powder. I just can't believe I practiced all of these "steps" for years!!! |

The loose powder was thick enough to be a foundation, so I didn't mind the thin normalizer stuff. After buffing with cotton balls, I remember looking great & not powdery for some reason...must have been the buffing. He was ahead of his time..too bad they started fooling around with his formulas. |

About 20 years ago (for about a year) I had a part time job at night as an Erno Laszlo consultant at Macy's.
I agree that in their day, the products were ahead of their time. I remember being taught that "it takes an oil to break an oil" in terms of the cleansing with the Phelytal Oil, and at the time I was required to use the products myself, and I was more than a bit wary of using the oil on my acne prone skin. Like the others here, I also loved the Sea Mud soap, although I haven't used it in many, many years.
Actually, if I recall correctly, I think the main reason I stopped using the products had a lot to do with how expensive they were, and I couldn't really afford them at the time.
I recently rediscovered the Normalizer Shake-it again as I don't really like the feel of foundation on my skin, but the Shake-It gives me just the littlest bit of coverage and IMO it's 10% make up, 90% treatment as it does seem to help calm my skin. Sometimes I use some BE MMU over the Shake It if I want some more coverage.
Never had a hard time putting it on although maybe I have powdery dots on my face and haven't realized it (I'm at that age now where I am starting to need reading glasses) so maybe I should go put them on and take a better look at myself (heh heh) |

I used to really LOVE that Normalizer Shake It. I don't like make-up but that stuff was cool. |

Geeez.... You DO realize that most people reminisce about old music, good times, forgotten friends.... WE reminisce about skincare products.
Probably NOT a good sign... |

I also used Laszlo in my twenties, for about fifteen years.I recently went back to Laszlo last summer. But I can't use the soap in the winter. So, I'm on the lookout for a gentle cleanser. My favorite is phormula no. 3-9 cream. It really helps with dryness and my rosacea. |
