These oils are seriously saving my skin right now, but I read somewhere that these oils go bad quite fast? Has anyone experienced this? Is it true that you only have a 6 mth window to use this? The bottles are huge! |

I don't understand why manufacturers don't package their oils so that you have a dropper to dispense the stuff! Clarins is a first-class offender with their ridiculous bottles with the big holes through which we are supposed to dispense the required "few drop" of oil.....I've used the blue orchid/orchidee bleu oil in the past...I don't think it suffered any contamination but I was extremely careful when pouring out my micro-drops! Don't put your hand over the opening and then tip the bottle to dispense or else you'll end up mixing into the oil any residue you might have on your hand..Your oil will definitely "go off" sooner than later if you do that..I had my oil for about six months and didn't notice any clouding or colour change in the oil..but I don't know if if "formally" the shelf life is only six months...BTW, I recently tried Clarins'Instant Light Perfecting Base and I hated it (I agree with you though, the oils are superb!!)

I use 50% of Clarins products in my skincare regime, I don't have any problem in using them even longer than 6 months. |

I wonder whether decanting the oils from the bottle into a smaller dropper bottle, and storing the rest in the fridge would help? Oh dear, I've been using exactly that method of putting my hand over the opening. |

I've emailed Clarins about this before.
When you open it you should use it within 12 months. If you don't it has a shelf life of about 2 years. However I had my lotus oil change completely to clear and was still as effective with no ill side effects so there's no problem. I actually quite like the Clarin's opening on their bottles (except I hate how heavy the damn jars are). It's a perfect drop if you put your finger over it. But I could see how it could be a big problem for multiple drops, one is enough for my whole face.
Oh I've never EVER had cloudiness, not the slightest bit with the finger over the top method. No contamination either. I've never heard of this either. The bottle actually has the "use within 12 months" symbol on it. |

Sounds about right based on what my friend told me. I have no idea why they go bad so fast. I like the body oil but will not purchase for this reason.
I have purchased Decleor's oils and they keep really well even for a few years. |
