My hormones have been wacky since I quit the Pill a few months back. First it was my face (thank God that cleared up!) and now it's my scalp !
I've developed a bad case of sebhorea, or at least what I believe to be sebhorea (yellowish skin, breakouts on scalp and around hair line). I've tried some regular dandruff shampoo, but that doesn't seem to work.
Any recommendations out there? |

Apple Cider Vinegar! It's horrible smelling, IMO, but it works. Spray/pour it all over your scalp so it's coated, rub it in and leave it on as long as you can stand, and then shampoo and condition as normal. Or, you can put it on between shampoo and conditioner, but I always liked to really get rid of it as much as I could.
Bonus tip - just hang out in there and clean out your shower stall with vinegar while you're letting it soak in - vinegar is great for dissolving hard water mineral deposits on tiles and glass and whatnot.
Good luck, hope this helps! |

I wash every 2 or 3 days with "Super Hair Energizer" shampoo but lately I started using "monistat 7 day vaginal cream" for the breakouts and "vaseline deep moisture cream" for moisture. I put the monistat on the scalp and rub a little cream in my hands then through my hair for moisture. I am wearing an afro so I hand dampen my hair with water after applying the cream to the scalp then put the vaseline cream before combing. Wonderful results since Sunday, 9/9/07. Scalp feels good, hair looks good and it's been 3 complete days now with no irritation or outbreaks. |
