I notice a lot of people talk about the state where they live on this board (especially those "Texas" folks!). For many of us, we are not living in the state where we were born and raised. So, where did you all come from originally? And, do you like your new location or would you move "back home" if you had the chance?
(For those outside the US, you can play too!)
I'm from the "First State"....Delaware
Born there in 1958 and except for 76-81 when I was in Virginia going to Virginia Tech, I didn't move away from Delaware till I was 31.
I love Arizona now...

I'm one of those Texas people, 6th generation. I had 3 ancestors die at the Alamo, so I am one of those DAR girls and a die-hard Texan.
My hubby was born in Texas, as were his parents.
We love it here in Texas and although there are so many beautiful places to live, I could not imagine living anywhere else.
Now hubby would love to live in Alaska as a mountainman/guide (it's in his blood as his great-great-great granny(?) was the wife of Daniel Boone and one great-great-great(?) gramps was Lewis of Lewis and Clark), but I don't do well in the cold. But I do love Uggs.
I tell him if I ever pass away he can go live there, but he says he'll be too old then, as I am way too ornery to go soon! |

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, but I've lived in the US for much longer than I lived in Thailand.
When I came to the US, I first went to Atchison, Kansas, but only lived there for 6 months, so I can't claim to be a midwestern girl. I lived in Maryland for 2 years, and then LA forever. |

You know, the only thing I can say about Texas (and this isn't a dig, or a compliment, it just is what it is) is that it takes 2 freakin' days to drive across it! Ugggg! Boring!!

Texas is actually quite beautiful to drive across, especially west Texas. It does go on forever though... |

Texas is so big that the scenery changes a lot. But, yeah, it's a long, long drive.

To put it in perspective....if you drive Delaware, east to west from New Castle (my home town) to Newark and into Maryland it takes all of 15 minutes!....10 minutes if you speed!! North to South you can go from Wilmington down to Rehobeth Beach in about 80 minutes...70 minutes or so if you speed!!!
Big State huh??!!
John
ps You know...Wyoming was boring too...drove to Sturgis Bike Ralley in 2003 and thought Wyoming was going to kill us it was sooooo boring! |

I was born in Hatyai, Thailand and lived there for 11 years. I've been moving around living all over the place (from Australia to US and UK) and haven't lived in my hometown since. I'm currently living and working in Bangkok, Thailand. Would I go back and live in my hometown? Nah, I don't think so |

I was born in Dayton, Ohio, grew up in Coral Gables (Miami), Florida. I now live in Colorado. I love it here. But after the 6 feet of snow on the ground, I was thinking of Florida a lot. |

I know what you mean. When I first moved to Reno and actually saw snow (as in when it's really snowing) I was so excited and couldn't be happier. After a week of snow, I really missed sunny Thailand! |

The snow is pretty when you don't have to get up in the mornings and fight the rush hour traffic. Normal drivers seem to become "brain damaged" during snow storms and forget how to drive. |

I just read John's original post again. I do think I'd retire in Thailand with my boyfriend who is originally from Ohio. He loves Thailand, too. We'll probably live in Chiang Mai since it's a lot cooler than Bangkok, and it's becoming quite modern. |

I used to be potty trained but as I get older I am not so sure that I still am. If you don't make me laugh too much I should be O.K. |
