Oh my word, do I stink at this, or what? I finally got this little contraption for my daughter's PS2, and I gave it a shot this morning - I kept getting "D"s and this was on the Beginner mode!!!! My feet don't seem to get where they are supposed to go on the mat - but boy, is it fun! I heard on my local news that a woman lost 40 pounds by doing it, so of course, my ears perked up when I heard "weight loss" as I just seem to be on an eating and gaining frenzy....My 14 year old was kicking my a**, but she's used to doing it at all of her friend's houses.

Just for laughs, I did a song on "expert" mode and it was ridiculous. I kept getting booed by the guy on the screen - how humiliating to get "booed" by a computer game M.C.!!! Laughing

Gotta keep practicing, and maybe I'll get good.

LOL That is awesome (minus the booing Laughing) ! I have always wanted to try DDR...it definitely looks like a good/fun workout!
If you could practice until you were great at it, while your daughter was at school, you could surprise her one day with your amazing moves! Cool

Oooh, I'd love to learn how to play. It definitely looks like it gets your heart pumping!! In fact, that coupled with my yoga routine would be more than enough to keep my McDonalds love in check...

Don't feel too bad. You're not alone! I can't ever keep up with this game. I'm totally uncoordinated. So sad!

My cousin who is 13 years old was playing this game. I said could I try it. He got mad because I went further than he did. I love to dance so this was my game. I love it!

I loooove DDR. My husband and I play against each other. It is so much fun. It really is a fun cardio workout. I keep it on fast easier songs so I still have to work but I don't fall and die. I have been doing it for a while but I am still pretty horrible at it. At least I have fun making a fool out of myself.

My son has a computer version of this 'let's embarass mom' game. I've never claimed to be Ginger Rogers, but apparently with this thing I sprout a 2nd & 3rd left foot....

Oh, my God! I'd kill myself with this thing. I'm so uncoordinated that I get embarrassed when I'm completely alone. Embarassed

OMG!!! I remember last Christmas my sister bought DDR for my nephew and I played on it for HOURS the next day...and proceeded to completely ruin my feet, ended up with plantar faciitis (I kid you NOT! lol) and ended up paying a visit to the podiatrist to get it treated.

So it was much fun but I now *refuse* to step on that thing!! lol. Laughing

Can anyone tell me where I would buy a copy of this? (either in the US or Canada) Is it available in WalMart?

Thanks!

I think you can get it Walmart. I've gotten mine at Circuit City and at Gamestop (used games are awesome).

Thanks, world~of~mirth (cute username!).

I forgot to ask, what does DDR cost, approx? And has anyone done it on a soft pad instead of the hard/ metal pads? I'm assuming a soft pad comes with the DVD/video.

Thanks, again!

You can buy it as a set with a soft pad. You can buy off brand pads too for cheaper. I like the pads that come with it better because they have a nonsliding surface on the bottom. The metal pads are for serious DDR fanatics and cost at least a couple hundred dollars if not more. You can google it if you want. I looked for all of a couple of seconds before I remembered it was just a game I play.

Thanks again, world~of~mirth! Smile

I'd like to explore it as an activity to add to my exercise program, and also just because it looks like so much fun.

But don't have space for the metal pads - and besides, I would rather spend the money on make-up, etc! Laughing

Oh god DDR! I vaguely remember trying it out on the DDR machine at some arcade (when I was young still - well relatively speaking Very Happy) and making a fool of myself *grimace* haha. I think the arcade machine is more fun than the home PS one as the arcade machine has the hand coordination part as well (which if i may say so was probably added in just to increase the amusement levels of the people watching on the sidelines *bah*) Embarassed

You can always have a party at your own house (lots of alcohol helps) and bring out the DDR mats. Drunk people and DDR is lots of fun. You still get the embarrassment factor too but you can blame it on the vodka. This one guy was so drunk he decided to play by beating the controller with his head Shock Laughing
