Hi.

I am beginning to see some faint lines on my forehead! Shock Crying or Very sad

Which products do you recommend for getting rid of these lines?

Also... I am using Avene 30+ sun protection. Is this enough?

I try to use a physical sun block, as I use Jan Iredale makeup. It is also water proof, for when I run outside during the day.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Lucinda

I think even young people have the occasional line on their face. I know I had a line across my forehead when I was your age. Maybe it's just natural. Are you sure you haven't just noticed it and it's been there all along?

Are you dehydrated? Drink more water - moisturise.

Your skin protection sounds good.

I've had lines on my forehead since I was a kid. I guess I'm just an expressive person.... they've never bothered me or looked out of the ordinary.. don't most people have lines on their forehead unless they've had botox?

I too have had lines on my forhead (the horizontal ones not the elevens) since I was a kid. I think that PhoebesMeow might be correct, these are normal and from what I can recall everyone that I know has them.

Ah, I might add that I DID notice when taking Hydraplenish HA supplements those forehead lines were ALOT less visible. I don't know if my lips plumped so much but the forehead lines were something I definitely noticed a difference in!

Lines on the forehead are generally from expressions and as others have mentioned, they're normal. Botox will take care of them temporarily or a cheaper option would be to use a retinoid cream. Avene Ystheal with retinaldehyde might help, or you could try retin-a which is prescription only.

i feel your pain ... i'm 28 and had those lines since 24, and some of my friends also in the same boat. I have been using a combo of Epidermx microdermabrasion scrub and Silkia camellia oil and amazingly the lines have disappeared ... totally!

I agree, drink more water, at 35 my forehead lines are lessened if I drink more water even. Smile Also, it could just be a build up dead skin that is making your expression lines more obvious, maybe try an exfoliant like beta and/or alpha hydroxy acids, or mild scrubs. I also agree that your sun protection sounds well.

I see 18 year old girls at my work who have those lines on their heads too..it's due to expression. Some get them when they smile too...i think genetics play a HUGE roll. When i raise my eyebrows i don't get any of those lines..if anything dehydration...but i'll probably get 11 lines because that does run in our family. i've also see small lines on them from smiling a lot...maybe i'm not as expressive of a person:/ haha. My sister uses retin-a for her problem areas and her skin looks so nice from using it. i'm sure they aren't noticable to the eye other than you being your own worst enemy like most of us on this forum:)

Thank you all for the helpful advice!

I definitely don't want to get botox though.

I think I need to get more sleep and drink more water...

Is retin-A ok for people of my age group? I thought it was for people 30+ ?

These are caused by genetics, sundamage and expression.

When I was young, I started to get them too. I changed the way I smiled and showed other expressions. You can do this by practicing in front of a mirror. Now close to 60 and only have one faint small line on my forhead.

There is no lower age limit for Retin-A. If you need it, you need it.

I've been using Organic cold pressed Rosehip oil for the pasts 2 nights, and it seems to be helping. I also put if all around the eye and neck area as well.

Since Rosehip is a natrual source of vitamin A and C, it makes sense that it would help.

Hi Lucinda!

I agree with the hydration from inside and outside... also exfoliation, I like Ice Elements 2 minute miracle exfoliation gel.

If you do not currently use a moisturizer day and night you should get into the habit of doing so. Personally I like aloe based products like Ice Elements or Aloette but have also tried other products including those with Vitamin C.

Once you are hydrated you should notice a lessening of the lines... To hold expression lines back you would need to use a product with argyline like Alpha Derma CE, which should keep the face from making the expressions as fully that create and deepen expression lines... It is kind of like a topical botox.

I just started using the ADCE as I have within the last couple of years gotten little lines on my forehead that are from expression but look more like little scars... I think it is because I had a head injury when I was small which may have done something to make it so that my expressions come out kind of funny on my forehead when I make them, not a line but tiny dashes. I never had them as a child and am in the over 30 under 40 crowd.

Agree with Bosoxy. A product with acetyl hexapeptide will help alot. I use the Relax-A-Line (Cellular Skin Rx). Works nicely and not expensive. Also, has a hyaluronic acid base which helps to plump the skin a bit. AH relaxes muscles so you can't make the lines so much anymore.

Definitely consider using Retin-A products at night. Your skin will thank you for it 10 years down the road. C serums help to protect from free radical damage that can hurt your collagen layer and then make the lines more noticeable - so might think about adding C to your routine as well.

Yes! Definitely start a good regimen NOW. I've had them since I was a teenager as well. I did do botox but it is just too expensive to keep up with. I had DEEP lines too. I did Obagi which is mostly used for hyperpigmentation but you use Retin A with it and I know that has helped tremendously. The Revive volumizing serum has been great for me there as well. My own Botox injector could not believe the volume I got there. I also use HA caps and HA Cream, they plump lines up inside and out.

So for me...
Retin A
Volumizing Serum
HA caps-everything works better when I take these I'm realizing.
HA cream
EXFOLIATION -never too young to start that!

I would get your doc to prescribe some tazorac and use it on your lines. I naturally have some neck lines ..think Kimora Lee Simmons...and they are much fainter when I use taz on them.

Of course if I stop or am not as diligent in application, they come back.

They're possibly expression lines as you're still young. I have quite a few faint lines on my forehead as well. I tried treating them with PSF Retinol .5%, but it was too harsh on my skin, so I gave up.

eep. I remember back when I was 25 (29 now), I started to get 3 faint lines on my forehead and freaked out... I've since managed to fight them back and they're no longer visible and I have a super smooth forehead. Very Happy It's all in proper skincare and moisturizing I think... and retinol and CP's. The biggest culprit I think is sundamage AND skin dehydration. Now I use sunscreen everyday and drink at least 3L of water a day (a bit over 3/4 gallon I think), and use hydrating skin care with CP's and Retinol 1-2x a week.

I have lines on my forehead too and started using Retin A nightly and have seen some improvement, but it takes time. I notice too that that better hydrated my skin is the less noticeable they are.

I have those same darn lines! I started getting them when I was about 20. My mom has verrrrrry deep forehead lines, but then again, she used to eat junk and drink only beer... Rolling Eyes Now that she is eating better, stopped drinking etc, she does look alot better. Still there, and so are mine, so it is hereditary.

I make a conscious effort not to raise my eyebrows! Laughing

I started to have expression lines on my forehead when I was in early 20s too. I agree with others that drinking water does help a lot. Also good quality sleep and regular hydrating mask after exfoliation can make a difference too.
