For those of you folks that like to use various exotic butters, herbal extracts, clays, hydrosols and natural additives - there is a lovely shop called CHASING CLOUDS on Ebay that is having a final clearance sale...
Many of her ingredients are ethically sourced as well. She has a huge selection of plant butters, apart from the usual Shea/Mango, there are at least half a dozen others.

I was unclear how you could tell they're having a clearance sale? Prices are in CAD, so it's hard for me to tell if the items are cheap or not. They look about the same as other vendors to me. |

Off the charts in a good way or off the charts in a bad way? |

In a bad way. Example, 100grams (approx 3+ounces) for $5.28. That's ALOT. |

I suppose you could be right, it's all relative, lol.
I buy my butters in much larger quantities, between 5 - 10 lbs. My de-odorized cocoa butter I get for $22.50 for 5 lb buckets, $21.75 for unprocessed so to me it's pretty pricey.

That's what I thought, too. However, it was all in CAD, so I wasn't sure how much that is is USD. I was too lazy to convert. |

Sorry - it was very late when I posted. Off the charts in a bad way. When e.o.'s, butters, and oils are billed as "organic" they are often more expensive, but these prices are VERY high. |

Katee and Candy, did you convert her prices to USD? |

I did on two of them. Just as a reference point.

Oh ok, I thought it was expensive, too. I kept looking for a clearance sale page, but couldn't find it. |

Whoa ok I am very late to post.. Anyhow from an international customer's point of view, most - not all - of the ingredients are pretty well priced, but like Candy says it is relative. Also for personal users, sometimes it is impossible to find fairly priced ingredients at such small quantities.
Bkkgirl are you looking for butters or clays? My other favourite retailer is Mountainroseherbs.com they stock a reasonably large range of ingredients too. |

Thank you gals for responding. I personally have no point of reference for this since I've never purchased these types of raw materials. I do know that when such materials are offered in smaller amounts, the price tends to be higher and I figured that even though Candy buys in bulk, she'd know if these were good or bad prices for small amounts. Katee, I didn't notice the "organic" reference, but that explains in part the higher price - I've noticed that everything "organic" is more expensive. How do we really know its organic? I guess we have to trust the seller.
Needless to say, I will not be purchasing from Chasing Clouds. |
