I am presently away from Vancouver, and will be away on holiday until July 4th. I'm in Windsor, Ontario right now, visiting my relatives, and will be heading up to Toronto this coming weekend. Windsor: it certainly not the most glamorous place to be, and definitely blue-collar/lunch-bucket ... just like it's next door neighbor, Detroit, but my grandparents aren't getting any younger.
So, as I've been chilling-out, and not doing much, I've been pondering what my absolute guilty pleasures are. I conclude the following: Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell's "Blue" album, sleeping-in, snoozing with Casper, an ice-cold beer on a hot day (or at the end of my work-week), reading insignificant fluff such as People & Cosmopolitain magazines, people-watching, and comfort food.
Not up to much tonight. `Attended my cousin Andrew's high school grad. ceremony this afternoon. Well, at least part of it: he attended a Catholic school, and we went to the Mass. I am not Catholic (neither is he!), nor all that religious, and am happy to report that I was not struck-down by lightening while in Assumption Church. I enjoy the ceremony of both the Catholic & Anglican (me) churches, but not the dogma, if you know what I'm saying. The best part of the Mass was watching some overtly-religious nit-wit go ballistic, screaming, "No! Noooo!", while running up to the pulpit, and then being forcefully escorted out one of the exits. Psycho I don't know what this yahoo's problem was, and the only things that I can think of: she didn't like the singing voice of the student who was beginning Sarah McLachlan's "Angel", didn't agree with the singing of a pop song in such a Holy place, or .... someone forgot to take her Lithium this morning, and was a little unbalanced. Now you know one of my other guilty pleasures/bad habits: observing people, and making cracks about them.
My plans tonight: supervising my cousin's graduation party at my aunt's house. Could be interesting: all of these sweet, 18-19 year-old babies, tossing back wobbly-pops, and whatnot. Lord help me, and I refuse to clean-up any of their accidents. |

The woman running down towards the pulpit would have been an interesting thing to see. I hope you're having a great holiday. Good luck supervising that party tonight - let's hope you won't need luck though!
Let's see, guilty pleasures -
eating Guylian sea shells chocolate
eating gelatto out of the container
watching Emperor's New Groove on dvd preferably while doing the above two things (I've seen it countless times and love it still!)
sleeping in (though I don't do it all that often anymore )
trying out all the new coffee shops and dessert places (too often!)
taking long foamy baths
spending lots of time getting acquainted with my skincare/makeup/perfume products |

I love this topic!
Guilty pleasures.. I'm committing one right now.
-Eating Breyers/Haagen Dazs out of the container
-Going to a wonderful restaurant with your significant other and looking and feeling great.
-Watching S*x in the City when no one is home
-Taking a long bubble bath with candle light until I am ready to get out.. no matter who needs to use the bathroom!
-The last one: to be getting a massage and facial that puts a dent in the bank acct but worth it. |

The crazy woman from my cousin's graduation Mass, it turns out, was objecting to the singing of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" by one of the graduates. Apparently, in her eyes, she believes that this song is about lesbians.
WHAT? I don't know how much ear-wax that she's had removed as of late, but this song is definitely NOT about this subject matter. W-A-C-K-O! Futhermore, to reinforce this, does she even think that the priests in the church would NOT have some sort of say in what may/may not be sung in a church? If the lyrcis were so questionable, does this idiot nincompoop not realize the priests may determine-so?? Oh-duh? Outcome: she was put in jail for a bit, let out, and then returned to the church, to pray for all of the graduates, because "they're all going to Hell".
Yeah ... whatever, Sister Wacko. |

Though Casper has travelled on the plane before, this has only been for short distances, and usually to my parents' home in northern B.C. I only put her through this stress if it's absolutely necessary. Therefore, she is at home, in her familiar surroundings, and I have a friend coming by to feed & hang-out with her every day. I miss my baby! |
