Any recommendations for VERY VERY Dry OVER PROCESSED hair??
They can be homemade mixes, store bought, etc. What can I do??
Needs moisturizing, needs love, help! And what kind of clear coat glossing treatment can I do to seal all that moisture in? |

The very best treatments (at home or in the salon) are those using heat.
I like the (original) Nexus Emergencee (protein) followed with moisture. Any protein treatment (to repair) needs moisture to follow.
Sally's has heat caps and also some reasonable treatments.
I had Redken shades EQ done at the salon; can't recommend a good glossing to DIY at home. |

I like Dessert Essence conditioner- the ones that have Jojoba in the ingredients.
The Tigi for brunetts sucks, did not like it.
Pantene ice shine is good too.
Anything with Jojoba oil and maybe Coconut oil is very moisturizing.
I actually like the new Suave rosemary mint line, it mademy hair very soft and it is cheap too
too bad it is not sold where I live.
Suave coconut is very good too, and super cheap if you have long hair.
I can not use it anymore because the smell of coconut anyhting turns my stomach.
cheap or expensive can't use coconut anything
For glossing I used to buy Sebastian colourshines.
Theyhave clear and colours- but it is not a consumer product, it might be hard to get a hold of a bottle.
I can buy it locally but it costs $50 or60 a bottle and have not bought any thisyear,so not sure of price.
a bottle is 300ml and enough for 6-8 uses.
If you are in Canada I can think of a salon that might sell professional products by mail, but can not post the info here. |

While I recommend the Suave as a cheap drug store item; it will not help damaged hair. My son uses it but his hair is in good conditon. Not enough moisture for me.
If buying something from drugstore; look for something described as a treatment or mask such as Neutrogena Triple Moisture Mask. I have this but believe anything with heat will work better.
The coconut oil is highly recommended on makeup alley (check reviews and hair board). I haven't tried it yet but want to. |

What I like to do is make up a big mixture of castor, avocado, coconut, and jojoba oil (grapeseed is also a good addition) and store in a bottle. You can use all of these or even just a few. I put about a tablespoon into my hair, prior to shampooing, and comb thru (concentrating mainly on the ends). I will let it stay on there anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes or more...you can also sit under a dryer too. I will then shampoo and condition as usual. For my conditioner, I've been using Nature's Therapy from Sally's. I've also heard great things about, "It's a 10 Miracle Mask." Anyway, after doing this just about everytime I shampoo, my hair is in the best condition ever. It's so soft, extremely shiney...even after I use the flat iron and no I'm not in my 20's or 30's....so that should say something! |

Unfortunately, I believe the L'oreal Nature Therapy mask is discontinued. My Sally's no longer has it or even a ticket for it on the shelf. It was a great moisturizing mask.
I like "Its a 10" leave in spray treatment. I have not tried the other products. |

I am using Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Nuturing Creme....I purchased it about 2 weeks ago, I believe. It's available on their website, did you see that in your Sally's? If you try "It's a 10...." would you please let us know how it is? If I can't find Nature's Therapy any longer at Sally's, that's what I'm trying next.
I also forgot to add that I apply Sally's Argan Oil after towel drying.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. |

Are you able to switch away from the processing that you're doing to your hair in the first place? Are you bleaching? This is just my personal opinion... but if you bleach and highlight... take extra care to look at your current color... I find that some women keep getting whiter and whiter and it looks REALLY fried... I often then a bit of a color change (you can still stay blonde) at least improves the appearance...
I am really liking the usage of coconut oil in my hair. If I'm not going to wash my hair the next morning, I will be stingy with it... I don't want to look like a grease ball... But if I plan to wash my hair in the morning... I really get lots in my hair, and sleep on it. Wash it in the morning. Try this when you don't have to get anywhere special. You don't want to find that you can't rinse it well enough.
I've also switched to Henna...I've been reading more about other plant based products that can add volume and luster without all the chemical... but have not tried them... and I'm even starting a new shampoo... my hair is so soft and silky now a days, it's a little unknown to me... And I've always considered my hair quite healthy looking and feeling...
If your ends are split and fried... you need to get them chopped off! OUCH... but they will continue to split... and little will stop that...
Good luck!!!! |

DSC00150.JPG Coppola Keratin Infusion Shine Therapy has done wonders for my fried, dried, over processed hair. They have a Vanilla bean keratin deep condition and the shine infusion therapy as a heat treatment. Both are excellent. They can only be bought online and are very expensive, but this is the big guns...not comparable to what can be bought at a drugstore or Sallys.
Tried to post a pic, so you could see my hair, but didn't work |

Ah, I whipped something together and my hair feels pretty good right now... I added the rest to my Wella In-depth treatment at about 50% in-depth and 50% my concotion....
Here is what I did:
6 tablespoon size chunks of unrefined shea butter
1 tablespoon avacado butter
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons wheatgerm oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil
1 tablespoon glycerine
Works quite nicely, you can probably add EO's but I didn't and I also tried it as is on my skin, very nice...
Ok, so wanted to update you all on what I did.

I have tried many different deep conditioners and I always go back to the best for my dry curly hair....Pureology Hydrate Conditioner!!!!!!
It's spendy, but it doesn't take much....I also use the shampoo.
Makes my hair soft, shiny and manageable.

That sounds great! I have the Wella In-depth and I also have some oils. I think I will add little oil(s)to the product. I have jojoba that I bought for my face that would probably work better on my hair. I have olive, argan and maybe some others.
Great idea! Thanks! |
