| That's awful! I can't believe the chat users were encouraging him to to through with it. Really makes me think that maybe I shouldn't let my teenage son chat online, because there are some real sickos out there. |

Cry for help gone wrong?
I used to be into chat rooms years ago, and the thing is people would get on the rooms and say things like they're going to kill themselves all the time... and many people WOULD egg them on to get the people to leave the room or whatever, while others would put the person on ignore. It was pretty run-of-the-mill for someone to come into the chat room and cause some kind of a scene to get attention. Never heard of anyone actually going through with it, though, and this episode will probably just get more people in the chatrooms saying they're about to do the same thing.

It was also his car accident. Same thing that pushed Spalding Gray over that edge.

People have to use common sense and not just assume everything online is pretend. If you wouldn't goad someone into acting on suicidal thoughts then why do it online. The net can be extremely positive and negative and people have to be careful what they say and do. |

| that is terrible! even tho i dont take things seriously online, i do think theres a limit to what u can say or do cos other ppl would take u literally. so, agree with u there Rufus |
