I was searching the web the other day for mineral makeup in the UK and found a website called Lily Lolo who sells their own brand of mineral makeup.
Just wondered if anyone has tried this brand??

Hi Becz21,
While I'm not in the UK ... and am not an expert in MMU [although I've been using MMU for several months now] ... I had a look at the site and it certainly looks worth trying.
She has sample sizes at what seem to be a reasonable price ... and her MMU doesn't contain bismuth.
I'd certainly [if I were you] order some samples and see if you like it.
Good luck

Becz. I've ordered samples of popcorn & in the buff, some chocolatey red eye powder and translucent powder I'll let you know what it's like when I get it.
This site is evil. |

I heard about this range on a UK beauty forum and thought it seemed worth trying.
Most of the people who tried it on the UK forum were new to mineral make-up and weren't overly enthusiastic about it. I don't think this is necessarily a reflection on the products. I think it had more to do with the fact that they weren't familiar with the application technique required for minerals and also a few of them weren't even using the right brushes.
I'd forgotten about Lily Lolo until I saw this thread and now that I've been reminded I can't resist ordering some samples. I can feel a spending spree coming on! |

It is the beauty forum on this site. For some reason it won't allow me to post a direct link to the Lily Lolo review thread. Not sure why. Anyway, just go into the beauty forum and then the beauty products section and do a search (bottom of page) for Lily Lolo and fingers crossed it will point you in the right direction of the review thread. |

That was quick eve
I to have ordered some foundation samples and hopefully ill get them next week.
I will post to let you know how i get on with them!!
(only concern i have is that i have real trouble trying to match colours, i think something looks ok then my hubby tells me im too orange or too pale!!! , i would say im a medium beige in the BE range so i e-mailed Lilly Lolo and asked them which of their colours i should go for and they recommended in the buff and popcorn) |

ok wearing it now
as you say Becz the most difficult part is getting a colour match as they cover a large range of skin colour options.
In the Buff is a good start if you are quite pale with some yellow tones OR if you are a little pink and wish to counter that. Popcorn may work on me if I get a tan and turn yellow or maybe get a liver problem
Ok. This is somewhere inbetween BE in terms of sheen and the flatness of JI pressed powder, the texture (to me) feels easier on the skin than the luxe.
My main concern with mineral makeup was/is sitting in the fine lines and wrinkles round the eyes. This doesn't do that which again for me puts it above the other brands -
The translucent silk looks like a white shimmer powder which helps to set and smooth out lines. Works well. The downside is that it doesn't seem as oil absorbing as the others - which is perhaps why it's better on the fine lines?
For 99p I certainly think it's worth trying but please choose your shade carefully.
Hope this is of some help. |

Thanks for posting that, Eve. I was hoping you'd post a review soon.
My samples have been dispatched and I can't wait to give them a try.
I've ordered samples of the Flawless Matte and the Shine Away (as well as about 5 foundation samples). I'm still searching for the perfect blotting powder to deal with my oily skin. |

I got mine on Tuesday. I have so many samples and only one face and so it will take me a while to get through them.
I've found a pretty good colour match in 'Warm Peach' but I'm not sure if the coverage is as good as my usual brand of minerals (Pure Luxe).
I also have a sample of the 'Shine Away' which looks pretty scary but actually goes on colourless.
Don't have any real feedback yet though but will post my thoughts when I've tried everything out. |

Still waiting. My order was dispatched on the 28th, so I guess it´ll be here an day now. I got a JI sample from CareKate the other day, and the Natural shade was spot on. Which Lily lolo shade do you think corresponds? I ordered in the buff, blondie and cookie (neutral tones) as the cool tones looked a bit pink. |

Got my samples yesterday (love Aromaleigh but as I have to take advantage of Marias good nature to send it to me in the UK I'm always on the hunt for a UK version!)
I ordered porcelain and blondie, flawless silk, transluscent silk, star dust and waikiki.
I am VERY fair so the porcelain was the best shade for me. It was a nice texture went on well, coverage was a little more than my aromaleigh and the finish about the same, not as shiny as BE. I preferred it to the Pure Luxe which I've tried previously.
The flawless silk was way too dark and pigmented for me personally as it was quite peach. I liked the transluscent silk though which had a nice soft focus, healthy finish rather like the illuminator from AL. You won't like it if you like a very matt finish but they do a matt version I see. The star dust is quite shiny/shimmery and I would use it only as highlighter for evenings however I mixed a little bit with the T/Silk and it made beautiful glowy finish - again you'll hate it if you like a matt finish.
The Waikiki bronzer which they recommend for lighter skintones is still quite dark and scary looking in the jar but it is very concentrated and I think it'll be nice used like BE 'Warmth' in the summer.
I'm really quite pleased with it. I still prefer the Aromaleigh but this is the best in comparison for finish and colour I have tried so far. |

I got my lilly lolo order on friday and i had a play with it over the weekend and have to say im really pleased with the results!!
The colour that i think suited me best was "in the buff" as its quite a neutral colour and definatley a good match form me as i have pale-medium skin (yellow undertones)
I also got the translucent silk and the nude cover up and the results of those were fantastic too!!
I like this brand alot better than BE as its not to shiney and give a lovely natural look!!
im am going to order the full sizes of these items as soon as my pay check comes in!!
This is the mineral makeup for me (i think ive finally found the right brand of foundation!!!) |

I've got the Rose Silk Dust as I'm not a fan of the smell of lavender. Unfortunately, it doesn't help my oily skin. I'm still getting an shine breakthrough about 1 hour after applying my mineral make-up.
I've been eyeing up MAC Blot Powder but I'm reluctant to buy it as I know that if nothing else has worked for me so far the chances of the MAC stuff working are pretty slim.
I've tried the whole Decleor Ylang Ylang thing but while it worked for a short time it soon began to dry out my skin and that is just as bad (if not worse) than the oilies.
I'm trying out a Lily Lolo product at the moment which seems to basically be ground clay in a jar. It works no better than anything else I've tried.
I've yet to try your Milk of Magnesia trick, Carekate. Having been dosed with the stuff when I was a child I can't bring myself to go near a bottle of it. Too many bad memories. |

You really need to try the Milk of Magnesia trick. Really! If the sight of the bright blue bottle is that traumatic for you, then decant some into some other innocuous-looking bottle and use it instead. If I can overcome my aversion to castor oil to the point where I’m able to use it in my skincare potions, then you can get over the MoM! |

OK. I'll get some next time I'm near a pharmacy. I'll just have to make sure I don't get any too close to my mouth.
Does it go all flaky when it is dry on the skin? |
