Hi, I've been using the Murad line for a few years now; while I'm very happy to credit this line with upgrading my skin from acneic to merely oily/acne prone, I'm looking to refine it now that the "big rocks" are out of the way.
I've listed my skincare goals, products I've reasearched and reasoning behind them below. A lot of these products have been discussed and reviewed extensively on this forum and others, so thank you all for providing this invaluable source for my research. Would any of you knowledgeable ladies be willing to review and respond whether I'm on the right track and am I planning to use all this stuff in the right order? Am I using too many products, is this too complicated?????
TIA,
I. DAILY
1. Cleansing/Control oil production/Exfoliation
a. Started using 75/25 mix of castor/jojoba oils as first step in cleansing about a month ago. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to spend 5 minutes scrubbing on my face, but at least this combination removes all my makeup!
b. Follow up with a gentle cleanser - I'm liking the ingredients in Pure & Pretty Clarifying Cleanser from ifeelprettyproducts.com. Since the PH is between 4-6, I think it'll be OK if I skip the toner or do I still need it? [shrugs shoulders]
c. Use BHA as a leave-on treatment I NEED my salycylic acid! I plan to try another product from ifeelpretty.com - Pretty Amazing 2% BHA liquid - PH = 2.0
2. Minimize pores -
a. Camellia oil to minimize pores and promote collagen growth to fill in acne pits and boost treatment serums. Will I need to wait 30 minutes after BHA serum before applying this, or can I apply it right away?
3. Lifting, firming, brightening, slight forehead lines and dealing with scars/acne pits -
a. Alphaderma Vitamin C&C serum - I got this because I'm a product junkie and it was free on EDS with a minimum purchase of AlphaDerma - not exactly sure where this will fit in, either before or after AlphadermaCE..If I apply it before, how long after the camellia oil do I need to wait?
b. AlphadermaCE - After reading Dr. Perricone's Clear Skin Prescription, it was very interesting to note that the same ingredients that fight the visible effects of aging can also improve acne-prone skin. Apparantly the primary actives in AlphaDerma [alpha-lipoic acid, DMAE, and C-esters] are reported to reduce inflammation, promote collagen growth, minimize pores and provide tons of anti-oxidants.
c. 5% DMAE/antioxidants - another product from ifeelpretty.com - I plan to use this at night after cleaning, BHA and camellia oil in place of the AlphadermaCE.
5. silk powder both before and after applying mineral makeup - reduces the shiny's and controls oil
6. Zenbiotics Oxytoner Skin Prep and Oxygen Replenish - did I mention I was a product junkie? I must be, because I really don't have any other reason to try these products other than they sound interesting and they're affordable!
II. Periodic treatments
1. PSF Acne Treatment mud - I love mud masks, and will likely use this once a week
2. Bentonite mud mask - I use this once a month, mixing pure bentonite clay by Dessert Essence with ACV and leave it on until my face tingles and pulses
3. Once I've gotten used to the 2% BHA, I plan to add another product from ifeelpretty - Pretty Amazing Plus 2% BHA/4% AHA liquid
Sorry this is so long, but I've been doing a lot of research and putting a lot of thought into this!
Thanks again,
Virginia |

You should wait 30 minutes to get the full exfoliation benefits from the BHA...I learned that from Tangal.
It made a HUGE difference in my skin! I apply it right out of the shower and then check my email, make breakfast, etc...before I know it, I can continue on with my routine. |

Thank you Paris, I too learned a little about wait times from Tangal, although I still find it a little confusing Hopefully my new routine won't be overkill! |
