Perhaps you're not getting enough sleep or hydrating your body properly. That was my first thought when I read your post. I would start drinking lots of water and getting lots of sleep.
As far as a natural eye cream, I don't know. I've heard of girls using jojoba oil around their eyes. |

Keep yourself well hydrated (water). Emu Oil is a wonder product to have on hand. I love it around my eyes. Actually I use it on my whole face. This site has a lot of information on Emu Oil. There are many places you can purchase a good quality Emu oil. Before buying on line try a local health food store.

Consider going to a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) / acupuncturist. In Indian Ayurveda and TCM, under eye circles and bluish discoloration are signs of liver and kidney imbalance.
Some people have dark circles as a hereditary condition but if this is new to you, I would definitely want to check out any potential health issues versus just cosmetic concerns.
You might try the lymphatic massage technique described below. Although it says for "puffiness", I think these techniques will help with under eye circles as well. From http://jtrostyle.com/Newsletter.asp
Quote: |
Now let’s take a look at the kind of internal imbalances that are causing the puffiness. According to the ancient teachings of Ayuverda imbalance of KAPHA causes eye puffiness. It’s aggravated by:
· Hypertension
· Liver and kidney problems
· Poor elimination
· Low digestive fire
· Lack of sleep
· Hormonal changes
Traditional Chinese Medicine agrees, that the roots are not in the eyes themselves but in the internal organs, like
· Spleen Qi deficiency
· Kidney Yang deficiency
· Liver Qi stagnation
Home remedies are quite popular lately, but don’t forget to put common sense in the recipes! Make eye pads using black tea bags soaked in warm water, or cotton puffs dipped in witch hazel or celery juice, or gauze squares stuffed with 1 tsp grated raw potato. Place on closed eyes for 20 minutes.
Another popular technique now is acupressure. Of course, it is wise to see a professional, but for a start Ayuverda and Traditional Chinese Medicine recommends this exercise: with your ring finger, press gently underneath the eye one point at a time from the inside corner to the outside corner to help drain the lymphatic fluids.
Modern Western Medicine recommends eating black raisins and figs every day and taking supplement of 1,000 mg of vitamin C. |
You should also keep track of what time you are getting to bed. In TCM, liver peak time is 1-3am. If you are staying up late, your liver doesn't get the rest time it needs to rejuvenate itself and it will likely manifest itself in your skin and body.... |

Hi lunarmm,
Thank u 4 ur reply n ur good observation. All above replies are v.good.Thank u all.
u know i'm drinking about 12 glasses of water daily throughout this last month n till today. I thought it'll help with my eye dark circles which really became a bit lighter now. Still dark but not as before. They were very black, terribly black.I first had them when i was 12. I'm eating lots of salad, doing sport n trying to sleep early n get up early.
You have good observation that it's about 1am at my home now. I advised a friend before to get up n sleep early.but still i can't do it myself. I stay up late, undeliberately most of the time , since i was 4 years old or may be before. I don't know why i was like that n still so. if i go to bed before 12 at night i never get asleep. On the contrary, very alert in bed n used to have nightmares till i finished high-school.
Nightmares stopped suddenly when i went to university i was 16 by then. University was hard labour enough to make anybody sleep. Throughout these latter 12 years i may had only 15 nightmares.
No one noticed that i'm having nightmares when i was a child or a teenager. Never screamed at night but always cried in silence. i myself don't know why. I never had psychological problems but this happened just like that. Everybody sees me normal at least I don't know why i have sleep problems since childhood.
Sleeping early n easily is the only problem i'm not able to overcome concerning my dark circles n of course with the eye wrinkles if the reasons r the same for both. |

Hi athenal23,
i forgot to tell u in this long story above of dark circles, n not sleeping well, that i had a choking accident when i was about 3 also if ever choking has anything to do with dark circles n eye wrinkles . But luckily enough i was locked up in a short cupboard that got jammed when playing with my sister. When they got me out of it i was all blue-skinned if ever turning blue out of suffocation has anything to do with dark cicles around the eyes 9 years after.
It seems this topic turned accidently miserable because of this bad sleep. |

You said you have difficulty going to bed early and you have nightmares. The trauma could have affected your sleep patterns.
Where are you located, Khadiga? Would you be able to go to see an acupuncturist / TCM or a holistic doctor? What does a regular medical doctor say about your health?
These are personal questions, so don't feel obligated to answer or feel free to PM me if you want. |

I am no physician or expert, but it sounds to me like you may have a serious sleep deprivation problem that perhaps a doctor could help you with. I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you when you were a child, but perhaps if you explained this to a doctor he/she may be able to help you address this problem so you can get the sleep you deserve!
Good luck. |

Hi violetanne and lunarmm,
For the wrinkles i think emu oil and the serum are good ideas n easy to use for the time being. I went after the link about emu oil n found it interesting n worthy to use. I'll buy both n try.
For the dark circles n the insomnia. I read what the wikipedia wrote about the trauma I think the doctor will find it right. May be it's true some damage has happened. Despite that i'm enjoying an overall good health, I feel my brain itself is suffocating n the headache this year is continuous. I'll consult my doctor n c if he says i can see an acupuncturist. I am fed up with my dark circles n wrinkles.
I think one day i'll thank u for myself becoming a writer. I'll tell you why then .
Thank u 4 ur replies n good advices.
for where I'm located i feel proud to say that I'm living in the land of the Pharaohs n the pyramids . We have the pyramids but with no camels n people living in deserts as everybody outside the middle-east region think. Camels r for tourists . Egypt witnessed many civilizations n cultures after the Pharaohs' years gone. We have Hyper malls n big department stores, skyscrapers, undergrounds, towers, museums, art galleries, libraries, universities, health clubs, scientists, engineers, doctors of all specialization, treat using different methods of therapies. We have a prosperous intellectual life with different kinds of seminars n meetings, too.
I'm living in Maadi, Cairo. Maadi is a wealthy suburb south of Cairo and a significant predynastic and archaeological site.
You can go to the wikipedia n c what is written about Maadi. |

Ahh Khadiga, you live in the country that I've always dreamed of visiting, the country of my mind and imagination... When I need to find some inner peace, I close my eyes and picture myself sitting on top of one of the pyramids staring out across the desert at the other 2 pyramids with a full moon peeking above the horizon.
Sounds crazy, but it always seems to settle the inner turmoil... |

c athenal,
u don't know how much happy I am. This is not because u said u like Egypt but because u athenal, n u in particular is the one who said that.
u know why???
Because when I first read ur topic about Neem oil, yes,i was shocked about the Neem face wash i'm using but liked ur light n humorous way of writing very much. Then when u replied my reply I thought of telling u that i liked ur good n light spirit but told myself may be she won't like commenting. It occurred to me to tell u many times before but i didn't say. I like all ur replies athenal n ur way of saying it itself .
and I assure u athy. I assure u that ,God's willing, I'll c u soon in Egypt n in Cairo. I have this strong feeling even before u wrote that. When u come athy, u will find a sincere friend there waiting to c u happily. I'LL BE VERY HAPPY TO C U.
If u too, want to keep me as a friend and have my address n phone number so that when u come to Cairo n even before that u contact me saying i'm coming, here is my e-mail address on hotmail is khadigakhalaf with no numbers or under scrolls. New members can't send links
N.B: I have a photo taken of myself pulling up the biggest pyramid with my fingers. It's a trick that depends on distances . If ,God's willing, I have more life to live, I'll take u one like that.
c u soon next to the pyramids |

So are you Khadiga, that was such a sweet post I got tears in my eyes ---
I've been fascinated with Egypt ever since I was a little girl. I think it started because of a silly television show called Shazzam and Isis - Isis was beautiful, a goddess and kicked butt! Because of her, I always wanted what I though was "Egyptian hair" - long, straight, and black as night. It was the start of a lifelong interest studying the pharoahs, Cleopatra, the pyramids, the deciphering of the Rosetta stone. Didn't I hear something in the news that they think they may have found the tomb of a female pharoah?
Done deal, if I ever make it to your part of the world we'll go visit the pyramids get a picture taken with the pyramids in the palm of our hands! |

O.K. It's a deal.
I don't how to take this photo with the pyramids in one's hand but distances may play a new part next time.
Shazzam, i don't know at all. I 'm afraid that he wasn't there. He isn't there in the encyclopedia, too. Media doesn't give one the correct picture most of the time. May be this is why u said "ur part of the world" I don't know.
Hatshepsut tomb and mummy was said to be found at last. That's right. She was a great pharaoh queen who reigned Egypt 1500 years B.C. Her reign was a golden one. Her temple the Karnak is one of the most famous pharaonic temples. She also re-established trade networks with Ethiopia n other countries i think. It was called Land of Punt. She was the first recorded to plant foreign trees.........etc. She was great anyway.
You can go for further information to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatchepsut
They write good information. I presume.
YOU ARE WELCOME ANY TIME,ATHENAL. |

Does anybody have any more recipes? one can cure inside n still apply something outside to reveal at least.
Thank u in advance |

Sorry Khadiga,
For some reason I wasn't getting email notifications any longer about your thread here.
I was wondering if you would be difficult for you to find a Vit. C serum or get one shipped to Egypt. I think a topical Vit. C would be good to target your undereye issues. I know others who use Vit. K products.
Anyway, I prefer a thicker Vit. C product than straight water based ones (which I find give my face a color, sometimes a film, also sometimes ball up if moisturizer is put over).
I've had Jason Cosmetic's Ester-C Ultra-C Eye Lift for a while - bought it when I saw it in my local Vitamin Shoppe. Well, I really like the consistency and how it feels. It's a thicker serum versus a water only based Vit. C product. I have other C products but this consistency makes it easy to work with and apply. And it doesn't dry sticky, etc. BTW, Jason Cosmetics has a whole Vit. C line:
http://www.jason-natural.com/products/vitamin_c_care.php
There are reviews of some of the Jason's Vit. C products at:
http://www.drugstore.com/search/search.asp?searchtype=1&trx=28198&trxp1=81390&ipp=20&srchtree=1&search=Jason+C
So, I think my next Vit. C product for the whole face is going to be a serum like:
Hyper-C Serum™ Anti-Aging Therapy
1 fl. oz. $33 at drugstore.com
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=40895&catid=81390&trx=PLST-0-SEARCH&trxp1=81390&trxp2=40895&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-SEARCH
Quote: |
Oil-based for maximum penetration, Hyper-C SerumTM has four times the moisture power and lasts longer than water-based formulas. Six different anti-oxidant Vitamins protect skin from harmful environmental elements. Nourishing moisture helps prevent the visible signs of premature aging.
Contents of Complete C Complex™ (from Ingredients list):
Ester-C® Liquid; Calcium, Sodium and Zinc Ascorbates; Magnesium Ascorbyl Palmitate; Ascorbyl Phosphate; and Ascorbic Acid)
Ingredients:
Octylpalmitate, Complete C Complex (See Product Details for Complex contents), Squalane (vege), Purifed Soft Water, Lecithin, Corn Starch, Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E), Lupaline, Green Tea Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Polysorbate 20, Dextrine Palmitate, Retinyl Palmitate (vitamin A), Cyclomethicone, Grape Fruit Extract, Fragrance |
Then someone told me they like Avalon Organics Vitamin C Vitality Serum. Ingredients: Organic Lavendula Angustifolia (lavender) (1), Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile) (1), Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) (2), Organic Arnica Montana Extract (3), Organic Aloe Barbadensis (2), Emulsifying Wax, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Vegetable Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5), Olive Squalane, Organic Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil (2), Tocopherol & Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Glyceryl Laurate, Lemon Bioflavanoids, Melatonin, Organic Borago Officinalis (Borage) and Linum usitatissimum (flax seed oils (2)), Rosa Canina (Rose Hip) Oil, Soy Lecithin, Theobroma Cacao Cocoa Butter, Laminaria Digitata Kelp Extract, Allantoin, Organic Calendula Officinalis extracts (2), Cetyl Alcohol, Steareth 20, Glyceryl Stearate, Amodimethicone, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxythanol
I was thinking of avoiding using Vit. C on my nose but if I switch to a serum like product like Avalon's or Jason's, I think I will be okay. But with water-based products, I think the C contributes to pore clogging on my nose. |

Thank u lunarmm,
I don't know how to thank u. Ur replies were of good use to me. First, I'll go on a medical check up today at 9.30 to make sure that everything is o.k. My doctor is a pharmacology scientist. He gained a lot of awards inside Egypt n abroad. We don't have here problems with good medicine or health products. We either manufacture or import them. Egypt has many Medicine factories. We export medicine to other countries in the region, too. My overall health is good. Thanks God, I've never had any big problems. But I have to check. Who knows?
We don't have any problems concerning shipment, either thanks to a big number of brand names. Media, I think, is the problem for this look. People in the Us, Europe and Australia think we r living in the jungle. They expose only the worst picture n say see This is people in the Arab World.
Ironically enough, I had bought Jason's Ultra -C Eye Lift with vitamins C & E before. The problem was finding it a bit sticky n not that apparent on my dark circles, I stopped using this brown small bottle with the spray cap after using it only twice. Now knowing it's good as you said, I'll re-use & try it again. Thank u a lot.
In another thread earlier to this one i mentioned I'm using Cernor XO Vitamin K oxide. I'm using it for a month and half now. My first tube finished then i re-buy. I have Cernor XO cover stick also. It's the only thing i apply now on my face when I'm going out thanks to a sensitivity to sun screens.
Cernor XO vitamin K oxide very much lightened my dark circles in the first two weeks but no more improvement now . Of course stopping exercising n the continuous no good sleep problem I'll see what the doctor tells me today.
I wish talking about medicine n shipping didn't annoy you but this look to my country as a barren desert one really annoys me. Yes we do have deserts but we are living in the valley n we have all signs of modern human civilization.
lunarmm, I thank u very much for writing n for ur time posting these worthful replies. They were all of good use to me. I appreciate them n love them. I wish they would never stop afterwards.
My best regards n appreciation.
Thank u ,
Khadiga |

I hope there are no hard feelings. I make no assumptions about where you live - in fact, I just recently found out you live in Egypt. I just try not to assume that everyone has access to the same things that I do. I live in the city. Even within the same country, depending on where you live it can be difficult to get certain things. When you cross international lines, prices and shipping, importation, and any added price constraints can make things more complicated. That's all.
The Jason Cosmetics Ultra-C Eye Lift I have is a pump, not a spray. It's true that if product dries in the little hole of the dispenser, it can harden and then the product may "spray" out. Once you get any hardened product out, I find the serum a lot less sticky than other Vit. C products I have tried and more moisturizing. And it doesn't seem to dry into a film like some others do on me. I choose this because it is an eye product made for the delicate area around the eye.
Now, I don't think it will make an immediate visible difference but I do think Vit. C is good internally and externally for skin health. I find Vit. C products to be brightening on my skin. |

Hi lunarmm,
It seems my meaning didn't reach you as i intended it to. One shouldn't write very late at night in order to get nothing messed up. I have no hard feelings at all. I wanted only to clarify a point that i knew it is not clear to many.
I don't know what to say more.
Thank u for the vitamin c serum advice. I hope it didn't cost me the loss of a good friend and a sincere advisor.
u r right about the pump cap. It's not a spray. I haven't used it for long. There is no production or expiry date on the bottle itself, too. I think they made it with a pump to control quantity where only few drops under each eye should be applied n gently patted into skin. |

International distribution laws that regulate what can be shipped where can be so complicated, which is why it's safe to assume that product available in your region may not be available in other countries or even in other states.
Until very recently, sunscreens containing Mexyrol weren't allowed in the U.S. even though it's been available in Europe for quite some time. [our FDA can be very slow at times]
Some products I can find very easily in Southern California may not be accessible to another living in the next state of Nevada, just as some of the lines EDS sells can ONLY be shipped outside of its native country of Canada.
There was a sticky note outlining what lines EDS carries and where they can be shipped but I can't find it this morning. As soon as I find it, I'll post the link. |

Two items to add:
**********
From http://altmedicine.about.com/od/drcathywongsanswers/f/darkcircleseyes.htm
Remedies for Dark Circles Under the Eyes
There are some home remedies that may help to temporarily diminish the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, and prevent dark circles from worsening.
1. Be sure to drink enough water. Hydration Calculator: How much water do you need?
2. Wear sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 under the eyes to prevent skin weakening caused by sun damage.
3. Get plenty of rest.
4. Apply plain cool teabags over closed eyes. Don’t use herbal teabags, because most aren't as effective.
5. Apply cool cucumber slices over closed eyes for 15 minutes.
6. Be careful not to consume too much dietary salt. Start by learning about sources of sodium in the diet.
7. Apply vitamin K cream. Although studies haven't looked at the use of topical vitamin K for dark circles under the eyes, preliminary studies have found that vitamin K may help with bruising.
8. Vitamin C helps to strengthen blood vessel walls. Quiz: Are you getting enough vitamin C?
9. The dietary supplements grape seed extract and pycnogenol contain antioxidant pigments that may help to strengthen blood vessels. They should be used under medical supervision by people on "blood-thinning" drugs such as Coumadin (warfarin) and aspirin.
Certain foods, such as cranberries, blueberries, bilberries, tea (green and black), black currant, onions, legumes, and parsley also contain these antioxidant pigments.
10. Eat kidney-balancing foods. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a bluish cast under the eyes are due to an imbalance in kidney energy. Learn more about kidney yang deficiency and foods to eat.
*********
This item by a seller I've purchased from before looks interesting:
Beautiful Skin Bright Eye Serum
1.25 oz. (40 ml) $12.15
http://stores.ebay.com/beautifulskinfo
As the skin around the eyes is about ten times thinner than on any other part of the face, it is naturally more susceptible to signs of aging and fatigue in the form of wrinkles, dark circles and puffiness. Bright Eye Serum contains 8% Hyaluronic Acid and 100% pure Squalane to moisturize and firm the delicate skin around your eyes. Two other proven ingredients work to reduce under eye bags, puffiness and dark circles. The two ingredients are:
1. Eye Resolution
Eye bags are the result of a loss of skin elasticity, causing the skin to start sagging and the small fat pads surrounding the skin to protrude and become more visible. The thickness of the bags can be aggravated due to restricted blood flow and stagnation of lymphatic fluids. One of Bright Eye Serum's ingredients is called Eye Resolution, an extract derived from the bark of the Amazonian tree Cecropia Obtusa, also called cannon wood. In clinical studies, this extract was found to stimulate lypolysis (breakdown of fat) and reduce the thickness of eye bags by 23% after only 8 weeks of treatment.
2. Biophytex
The second ingredient in this serum is Biophytex, which targets and reduces dark circles under the eyes. Dark circles are caused by blood vessels showing through the thin, delicate skin under the eyes, especially if the vessels become dilated. In clinical studies, Biophytex, a synergistic complex of five plant extracts, was found to improve micro-circulation and strengthen capillaries to significantly reduce dark circles under the eyes.
There are many serums, creams and lotions on the internet to help with under eye bags, puffiness and dark circles, and the majority come with a very hefty price tag. In the past, you would have had to purchase a different product for each problem -- one for under eye bags and puffiness, and one for dark circles. Now Beautiful Skin Cosmetics has made it possible for you to attack these problems with only one product. Since you only need a few drops around each eye after cleansing, one bottle of Bright Eye Serum should last several months.
If the skin around the eyes is not well hydrated, as is often the case with aging, the skin looks rough, and fine lines are more visible. Bright Eye Serum contains a base of 8% Hyaluronic Acid and 100% pure Squalane Serum to firm and moisturize the thin, delicate skin around your eyes, making fine lines and wrinkles less visible.
Hyaluronic Acid information
8% Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in great abundance in your skin. Over time, free radicals, produced mostly through exposure to pollution and sunlight, destroy the natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies. Middle-aged people are estimated to have less than half the hyaluronic acid they had when they were young.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a supremely hydrating serum and one of the leading anti-aging products on the market today. It strengthens the skin's ability to retain moisture by 800-fold the instant you apply it. The result is significantly reduced apearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Squalane Information
100% pure Squalane oil is a moisturizing component derived from the pits of olives that has the unique ability to permeate the skin to lubricate and promote healing. Squalane boosts the skin's ability to accelerate new cell growth, nourish, hydrate, oxygenate and protect itself. This amazing oil softens the skin and reduces tiny lines and wrinkles. It is reported to help clear up difficult skin problems such as eczema, dermatitis, and other rashes when other remedies have failed. It also beneficial for healing skin cracks, which are a significant health issue in the winter as germs can easily enter the body through cracked fingers/hands that have dried out from cold conditions. Squalane oil is a superior lubricant that provides germ killing activity when it is properly concentrated in the skin. It also helps to prevent the formation of brown age spots. In this regards it is a major ingredient that prevents skin aging. Squalane oil is frequently used in cosmetic preparations to soften the skin, to reduce small facial wrinkles, and as an anti-bacterial agent. It has been reported that Squalane speeds wound healing.
Directions for use: Twice daily, cleanse skin of dirt and makeup with water soluble Beautiful Skin Olive Oil Cleanser. Saturate a cotton pad with Beautiful Skin Rose Water Toner (or Beautiful Skin Glysa-Clear Acne Solution) and apply to skin. Let dry and apply a few drops of Beautiful Skin Bright Eye Serum. Allow a few moments for the serum to absorb before applying makeup.
Ingredients:
Hyaluronic Acid Serum, 100% Squalane oil, Eye Resolution (extract of Cannon Wood tree), Biophytex (Propylene Glycol, Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Pro-Vitamin B, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, Aesculus Hippocastanum Extract, and Ammonium Glycyrrihizate), Hispagel (Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea), Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Deionized Water |
