Got a call from my lady at Trish McEvoy at Harvey Nichols today. Normally she comes once a year in March and does some quick sessions which I've been to before (she is great!).
However, she is going to be here on December 5th and not at the counter but in the VIP/personal shopping area. She is doing two hour sessions with up to 25 people in each session so she has enough time with each person to advise personally. She is only doing two of these two hour sessions.
I had to pay £75 to book into a session but it's reedamable against purchase so I don't care. I will just wait to get my new mascara etc. I would not do this for another brand but she is very cool. |

Lucky.I love all her stuff-I have dang near most of it...be nice if she could show me how to use it. Her stuff isn't sold in Canada. I have to rely on the psychic & descriptive powers of an SA in Saks N.Y.(who's never met me)-she's been great till now |

Have you got the Trish McEvoy book? It's quite interesting. I learnt loads when I read it recently though I've been using her stuff for years.
When she visits normally, she talks through stuff but then the SAs show you how to do stuff. And they are quite good normally too. Also sometimes a make up artist from NY comes and they are good too, it's the same type of arrangement, small fee (maybe £10 or £20) but redeemable against purchase.
I'm really pleased I'm going to get this opportunity with Trish. She's fantastic. Also very pleased to get one of 50 places, I'm glad I normally stop by and say hello to the Trish McEcvoy SAs whenever I am in Harvey Nichols (quite often lol...) so they called me. |

Wow, this sound amazing! I just came across this thread while trying to find my review of the Beta Hydroxy Pads which needs updating. They do have the best make up artists in London on that counter... I always feel like I learn something new when I go there and the fragrances are gorgeous too... |

Also found out today she will be in the Leeds store the next day so if any addicts near there who are intrested in this, it may be worth calling to see if there are any places left! |

Ok...sorry...I never did get around to doing my write up of the tips given by the great Trish in the Masterclass as I said I would in another thread - I just found the scribbles in my notebook.
But lo and behold I was doing some research on concealer and came across this article which was a write up of the session in Leeds.
http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=4210&ArticleID=1926645
Looks like the same session.
The big thing I remember is to make sure you rinse really well after cleansing. When I said I used a muslin cloth, Trish said that was fine when in a hurry (?? hurry...?I wonder if she's ever faffed about with Eve Lom lol) but the important thing was rinsing several times under running water. I guess she meant splashing but I've been sticking my face under the tap just in case...
In the article, re number 7 about the dry mascara wand, it was the same as in her book Trish said to always wipe the brush off with a tissue. Or as not in her book against the top/inside of the tube. (which I was suprised about, that's my cheat way).
They didn't really do foundations etc as they were pushing the pressed mineral powder (to be used as powder or as foundation if you use it with a different brush) |

Hi Lin. I use the lash curling mascara which is fantastic. All my make up is Trish McEvoy (except a Prescriptives concealer) because I love the Planner, if make up won't fit in my planner I won't buy it! Her make up is really excellent quality. I don't wear make up much though I like how pretty it looks in my planner lol.
Personally, I have only tried a couple of bits of skincare and didn't really rate them and from what little research I've done it's thought to be expensive but not worth it in terms of related results. I was tempted by the HA based serum they mention in this article but it was really pricy (£83) and when I was having a look around at PSF the other day(which does seem to have a good reuptation for results), it seems their HA based serum is less than £10..That said, I'm going to ask the SA I visit for some random samples of the skincare. |

You could be a lucky duck too! As they are having the regular session as well as the Masterclass, lots of people can go! |

I went to Harvey Nichols today and had a wonderful experience with the Molecule fragrance, but that's another thread. The artist at the Trish McEvoy counter said they still have spaces for the event tomorrow and Wednesday and I am thinking of going as I like the new planner with handles and could easily spend my booking fee. Daisylondon do you think it is worth the money to go and see Trish McEvoy - or has anyone else been to these events? |

Hey Smoothskin
I definitely think it's worth going, you will learn some stuff and it's fun.
I am going to the Masterclass on Wednesday, first session at 10:30am (before she gets tired out lol). The 'girl's night in' is tomorrow (Tuesday) night but as you're eyeing something more expensive (than the £25 redeemable against purchase), I'd recommend the Masterclass (£75 redeemable against purchase) as the girl's night in has a lot more people and can be quite hectic.
The Masterclass is an hour or so of Trish talking (and the numbers are restricted), then an hour of getting your make up done by a MUA. Though I'm opting out of this bit due to my paranoia about shared make up and brushes! Still, I'd rather go to the Masterclass as less hectic and I have something around £75 set aside anyway (for my friend's birthday).
Re the planner, do you mean the white one?

Thanks Daisy, I'll see if I can fit a masterclass into my day - maybe the evening session. Yes, I have been looking at the white planner and I am not mad about the exterior, but really like the fact that it looks petite but can fit a mini page. I also think my make up colours would look great against the white inside. |

Good luck! Hope you can do it. Shame, it would have been nice to meet you.
BTW there is a platinum one like the white one on the Nordstrom website... |

Smoothskin, did you manage to go?
I am just back, whilst it was good, it was not worked till 2am last night to justify sloping off from work this morning good.
I picked up a few very good tips on (holding brushes and applicaion) but I don't think I will go again, there's too much shared make up going around (including mascara straight out of the tube...!) and they really pressure you buy lots of stuff. The MUA writes it all down and today practically strong armed me down to the till with the list. Due to prior experience of these events, I'd already had something laid aside for my redeemable but had to be insistent that I pop in all the time and would rather come back when it's quieter. On the way down despite the fact the MUA had seen I have a luxury leather planner and another one, she tried to encourage me to get the white one and also an orange leather planner...!! (How many planners would one girl need...?!)
I don't react well to pressure. Some of the SAs at TM are a bit like that too and when I go and they are there, I don't buy much but the lady who has never pressured me, I've spent a fortune with over the years. |
