I am using a day cream that is in a pot and therefore I have to dip my fingers in to get any to put on my face and I am thinking this might be contaminating the cream. Also with things like peels or masks or anytime I have to use my fingers with a product, I am worried about contamination. Any ideas or tips on how to use these products without doing this but that will also let me use every last inch, if I can manage to finish one thing before buying another. Thanks! |

I try to buy things in pump bottles or with droppers (like PSF HA etc). But when I do get anything in a pot, I try and use a clean spatula each time and/or wash my hands scrupulously. |

Goodness how much cream do you have? It's just the little spatula for pots of cream, I believe you can buy them in the travel containers section in stores. Also some creams come with the little spatulas already, Decleor items do. I always use one, or you could try a cotton wool bud. (Q tip). |

I thought that was what you all meant but you never know, maybe some of the DIY-ers use spatulas and I just didn't want to assume I knew...oh goodness I sound so dumb. Oh well, thanks all! |

They sometimes come with pots of cream. I also got one as part of an inexpensive travel decanting set from Muji. The idea of decanting into smaller pots is a good point, I've been known to use a disinfecting teaspoon for that. |

Some stores sell packages of spatulas for about 4 dollars you can get 50. |

I either use spatulas or more probably transfer into another small container to use... |

We have all asked questions that seem daft after we know the answer.
I know I certainly have. |

As long as you wash your hands before you dip, you should be fine! |

Yeah, though part of my concern was getting product under my nails and wasting a some...I hate wasting stuff unless I find a better product. |

I was hoping this was this case, as I'm always worried about using my fingers but I'm just too lazy to use the spatula everytime! |

All I do, if anything, is wash my hands well with antibacterial hand soap. I really don't think you have to take any other measures than that. Although I must say that I had an (admittedly) OCD friend who would buy disposable latex gloves, use the spatula, and only apply with the sterile gloves on. She would even make sure that she closed and cleaned the jar lid with the gloves still on! If you're doing that, I think you need help!
As for getting it under your nails, I have fairly long nails, and every once in a while I'll get a teensy bit under one of them. It's not really that big of a problem for me. But if you're digging holes in your ski creams, I would consider the spatula idea! |

I think I am just fastidious...and maybe slightly OCD but thanks I appreciate all of the input! |
