Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this forum for a while and find it absolutely fascinating, thanks so much for all the information. I decided to post because there is a product I swear by that hasn't received much coverage here, and it's changed my life so I wanted to make sure anyone with acne/pimples or blemishes knew about it.
It's a nappy-rash cream made here in the UK called Sudocrem. A model friend of mine tipped me off about it years ago, and it's the best cure for blemishes I have ever found. I used to get the occasional angry spot or blemish, and now I apply sudocrem to it and it goes away very quickly. I've been using it for about seven years and it's such an important part of my skin care routine. My partner has suffered from acne since his teens, and I bought him a pot about six months into our relationship and the change has been exponential.
I've found such good tips on this forum (I'm now incorporating retinol, vit c and rosehip oil into my routine) and wanted to share my own beauty secret in case it could help anyone! My partner's acne used to really affect his confidence and it's amazing the difference a dirt-cheap cream has had- I'd share it with everyone if I could. It's nice to "meet" everyone and thanks again for all the wonderful tips on this forum. |

Could it be because of the zinc in the product?
or is this a cream with sulfur and zinc?
I think it is a baby cream no? in a grey jar?
I got a sample of something similar from well.ca a few months ago. a product called Skinfix?
it is more expensive and seemed to be the same or close to Sudocrem....
I used to use Aveno baby cream for blemishes and it did help a bit and got rid of some redness too. |

Yes, the active ingredients are zinc oxide, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate and benzyl alcohol. It's a baby product in a (rather unattractive!) grey jar. it's not a particularly natural product, which I usually prefer, but the results for me (and my partner, sister and friends) are such that I use it anyway. Some people spread it all over their faces, although I prefer a topical application. It's very thick and can give a white cast so I apply liberally at night and only apply a tiny bit in the morning.
I just looked and found there are lots of very good reviews of it on MUA (and some poor ones - horses for courses), though the prices there are way off - it's one of the cheapest products available in the UK. I imagine it must be difficult to get hold of overseas. |

Sudocrem is sold at most big drugstores in Canada.
But I still have Aveno aby cream to use up before trying anything else. |

Didnt do a thing for me...but I banished my spots almost forever with PanOxl a 2.5 % a benzoyl peroxide gel. I was trying to follow the regime on acne.org so put this all over my face morning and night, and it swelled up and went red, so I gave it a rest for a few days, repeated, got the red and swelling and after that no more spots. A miracle.
If I get a spot I put this on it, and all over my face and it vanishes. Been spot free for months and months now. Worth a try, it's cheap as chips and widely available in the UK..not sure about the US. |

This product does not help with my acne in general.
However, it does help with the stings of insects. I have sensitive body skin which can be irritated as soon as it got stung and be left with scars if i scratch it.
This cream helps to soothe the stings and to heal them fast leaving no scars.
There is one thing I don't like about this cream is that it leaves extremely visible white marks which make the stings even more noticeable on my skin . |

I didn't have any luck with sudocrem, it just seemed to feel heavy on my face and gave me even more spots.. I have quite large open pores though, and my skin likes to breathe or else it goes all moody and gives me more spots lol maybe it works better dabbing them on single spots here and there, but I found a dab of TCP works better for me.. The downside though is that you can smell that stuff for absolutely ages after!
But having said that I did put some Sudocrem on the sides of my feet yesterday after getting a bit too excited with my pedicure machine! Ouch! It really did soothe it though |
