This post box is taller than me:

Emma2006 ~ muahaha.... i didnt realised there is a *knob* there! LOL.. so basically just pull it out and leave the mail inside? if there are alot of mail, wouldnt it fall out when you pull open it? haha..
just curious, wouldnt there be any mischievious kids around who just open and take out the mail? |

I was going to make a rude joke about knobs and knockers.
This was in the countryside so it is pretty safe.
It's funny but when I moved to Sydney from England I was amazed that their postboxes are in the garden and anyone could open them and pinch packages. In England the postman pushes your letters through the front door and it lands in your house.
No one seems to steal things though as many a time I've had parcels sticking out. Loads of school children walk past my house on the way home and I've never had one stolen. |

We live on the edge of town and have our own mailbox. So far we haven't had anyone take anything. The most the kids do is raise the flag when they walk by it. I look out, see the raised flag, get all excited because I think there's a new EDS package, run outside and .... empty. |

ooh!! I wish I had talent to make one of those!!
We are moving into our new home tomorrow (which is funnily enough - and embarrassingly enough - called "Aussie Court Village") ... and all the houses are given the same post box.. a horrible green thing. I have already been wondering what I can do to change it.
My favorite post boxes though are seriously the 20 gallon drums on a pole. Can't beat that!!.
My husband reckons we have to put up our boxing kangaroo flag at the front porch. Doh, as if the entire place wont know where to find the token Australian as it is... |
