I started using IFP BHA of 2% about a month ago.
I started using it daily as well as CP at night.
Cleanse with DHCC, 30 min BHA, 30 min CP
This created a mess and i had all kinds of small bumps and nasty looking complexion.
I changed it up and for a week, bought Neutrogena extra gentle cleanser and used only this morning and night. My complexion actually was more healthy using just this alone than it has been in a very very long time.
I was then ready to add back the BHA to the mix and used it every other night only one the nose and the right side of my face to see if any noticeable results would appear from one to the other. In the last 3 weeks i have noticed the small blackhead problem i did have on my nose has been greatly reduced to nearly nothing, and am now using it nightly. I noticed when my skin was becoming accustomed to the acid i would get small red areas in different places on my nose that seemed to be sensitive but now has all been evened out. It seems like the redness i have had on the bridge of my nose due to 6 mos of living in hawaii with no sunscreen has been reduced. For 3 weeks time i have noticed some positive results but only on my nose thus far.
I had read somewhere it is ok to put BHA on the eye area as long as there is no sever reaction or irritation so i tried the corners of my eyes where some fine lines seemed to be appearing and i noticed some lightening of those but i did notice a scar(or what appears to be) under my right eye where i had used the BHA appear. I dont know if this surfaced because of the BHA and is ex foliating from the inside, or is a direct result of the BHA. I stopped using the BHA on the area after i noticed the scar and its still there, its very faint.
I also noticed that a very faint pimple scar(the only one i have next to my nose) has become wider looking, i recall reading that scars when healing stretch wider and even out with the rest of the skin. Hopefully this is the case but not sure. Likewise i have a fairly deep chicken pox scar on my forehead which happens to be on the area of my face i am treating with the BHA and havent noticed any change in that scar, but it is more prominent so it could need a stronger acid.
Overall in the last 3 weeks i have noticed a positive change specifically on my nose with tone, texture and blackheads. If this is an omen of whats to occur with continued use then i would say this is the best product i have tried yet. My only concern right now is the scar on my eye and the scar near my nose widening.
Plan to add Lactic next week every other day. Then eventually put back in the CP. |

Hi, Jeffer! I'm so glad things are working out for you!
I just wanted to mention something (just in case you weren't aware or maybe weren't already doing this) - the Neut. gentle cleanser's pH is just a little high, so if you want to get even more exfoliation benefits from the BHA, you might try waiting about 20-30 minutes after cleansing before applying the BHA (unless you're using something to drop the pH of the skin before applying the BHA). Then, of course, you'd need to wait the 30 minutes afterward, too.
Also - I'm one of those people who has a terribly sensitive eye area & I can't use BHA or AHA near my eye area. But as far as scars or lines are concerned, BHA isn't really going to do much for that - AHA is what does the surface exfoliation. |

I ordered IFP's bha/aha in the 2 and 4% about a month ago. Everytime I attempt to use Emu oil I get these black heads on my nose. This last attempt also gave me blackheads on my cheeks. ICK! After two weeks I saw improvement and today they are all gone. The ones on my nose look much better as well. Great product. I'm only using every other night at this time but am thinking about trying every night.

Jeffer are you sure the scar showing up isn't a cause of cps. Have you used them very long. I had one show up a while back on the left side of my face under my eye, also very faint. I thought it was the cps, but who knows. I still like them though. |

it is possible, as when i started the CP i only applied it to one side of my face like the BHA. I didn't imagine that would cause a scar though. I guess i had this notion that BHA would do that since it exfoliates? Not sure, but I do know its still there and I have only been applying jojoba and rose hip the the area. |

The CPs wouldn't cause a scar, but because they remodel the skin from 'the inside out', they can bring an underlying scar to the surface.
A lot of times we have scars that 'disappear' - but they are still there - they are just below the surface. Using CPs will 'push' them back to the surface, which is why you have to use exfoliants (BHA & AHA) in conjunction with the CPs. The exfoliants remove the outer layers & the CPs remodel the new skin under the surface so that once the 'old' skin is exfoliated away, new unscarred skin is left. |

that must be it. I was putting CP under eyes even when I wasn't applying it to the face at night. Once my face is COMPLETELY clear im going to start slowly, and dilute the CP and build weekly to see how my skin handles it. I still haven't even began putting the BHA on my forehead again yet as that has been the most problematic area for a year now and seems to finally be getting better just using cleanser.
Hopefully ill eventually be to a level in which i only need protection after removing the years of neglect. Such a tedious and annoying process when things don't work. Confidence deadening.
Thanks again Kim |

Thanks, Jeffer, for starting this thread. I just started on the IFP BHA 2% a few days ago. I hope to get great results.
Question: Does using acid on your face will thin out skin? |

I like BHA cleanser, for it really cleans my pores. |

For BHA to work, it needs to be at a ph of about 3.4 or lower - most cleansers have a pH of 5.0 or higher. BHA also needs to stay on the skin in order to work. It's not one of those things that can be applied & then rinsed immediately. Once it's applied, in order to get maximum exfoliation benefits, it needs to stay on the skin for 30 minutes - without anything else being applied until the 30 minutes are up.
So BHA in a cleanser really doesn't do anything. |

On Friday night, I grabbed what I thought was my IFP BHA 2% after I cleansed my face with the gentle cleanser I bought from skincarecentral.
I was surprised that the BHA seemed foamy this time but didn't think much of it. I waited 30 mins after I applied it and went on with the rest of the routine.
In the morning, I looked through my pile of skincare samples and realized I was using the IFP gentle cleanser the night before instead of the BHA 2%.
Did I do damage to my skin by messing it up like that? |
