I just did a TCA peel, and I'm wondering whether using my regular daily AHA will help speed up the peeling, or will this prolong the peeling phase? I usually finish the peeling process on day 7, but would like to shorten that time.

I don't have any experience personally with TCA peels but my feeling is that you should lay off any exfoliation (manual or acid/AHA based) until your skin has completely healed and then wait another week or so before gradually introducing it bearing in mind that your skin will not have the usual protection (so more sun sensitive etc)it had pre-TCA. I think the AHA would prolong the healing process personally.

Sure someone who has used TCA will be able to help more though.

Thanks Lucia. I guess I should hold off on the bha/aha to be safe.

I was told by my derm not to use any active after a peel or procedure until your skin has stopped shedding or peeling, which for some can be 3 days up to 2 weeks. I have made that mistake before and ended up in a skin nightmare cycle that took weeks/months to get out of and my skin was then sensitive to EVERYTHING. But then again, I have more sensitive skin to start with. Confused

I've read not to use any actives until you were completely done peeling as well. But then I received instructions w/my TCA Latte purchase from perfectcomplexion & it says to "use the TCA Latte each night to expedite the slough" after a TCA peel. It also says NOT to moisturize as it can prolong peeling. That is also contrary to what I've read about keeping your face moisturized after a peel w/emu oil, HA, neosporin & the like. So, I'm a bit confused.

Leidon-that is confusing info as I was told that by more 4 differant derms/docs/Pa/estheticians and I have read that as well. Also platinumskincare customer service once told me not to use actives until all peeling had stopped after using their peels. I think I have to err on the side of all of their advice, but then again my skin is extremely sensitive.
I guess if you have rhino skin you can do whatever your skin will tolerate. Laughing

I think you're right to err on the side of safety. Although, I do have rhino skin Laughing
