So I've been waiting for a bag I ordered. I tracked the package through USPS and it said it was delivered. The catch? I NEVER GOT IT.
I live in a condo community and all packages are put in lock boxes with keys left in tenants mailboxes for pick up. SOMEONE GOT MY BAG!!! The stupid USPS guy delivered it to the wrong address!!! I'm so angry.
All the boxes for packages were opened (meaning they all had packages) and there was nothing inside any of them (I was secretly hoping that someone left it in there realizing it wasn't theirs.)
What do I do? I've contacted the company but how do I prove I didn't receive it when delivery confirmation says I did? I tried contacting the post office but no one answered...
I'm soooo angry! Can I get my money back through my credit card even though delievery confirmation says that it was delivered?
I hate the mail system!!!! ARGH!!!!! |

Oh wow, that really sucks. I'm pretty sure your credit card company will back you up though considering I've seen total scammers on ebay who's cc companies back them up even when they were scamming (and I mean multiple chargebacks one after another!). So most likely you'll get this worked out. If the package wasn't insured, you're pretty much out of luck with the usps. The thing with delivery confirmation is its just that and nothing more. I recently sent a package to a friend in PA. I tracked it and the delivery confirm said it was delivered.. the catch? It was delivered to a different city all together!! And the usps can see I sent it one place, delivered it to a different city, but not insured so out of luck. Thankfully, whomever received it sent it on its way to my friend (although weeks later). If one of your neighbors doesn't cough it up, I'd say you've got pretty creepy neighbors. Someone ought to know that package is NOT theirs! Fork it over! If it were me, I'd make up a little flyer and hang it on the wall by these package lock boxes. Like "GIVE ME MY PACKAGE!" Emphasize that you're neighbors. But still, some people |

I was about to post the same thing except I would add a picture of the bag. If someone stole it with they intention of using it, they couldn't really use it without everyone knowing it was yours (that's if the bag is distinctive enough).
Check ebay too, see if anyone in your area has the same bag for sale. If so, I would PM them and ask something stupid about the bag and they might be dumb enough to write back with their real name, or their real name might be attached to their email. |

Wow, that really sucks, sometimes I wonder whether tracking/DC really means anything. I think putting up a sign would be good with a picture of your bag and writing something on the lines of "if you see this bag please return it to its owner" or something like that so it would be polite and hopefully your neighbours will have some good in their hearts to give it back or feel guilty knowing that you know they took your bag. Do you happen to ever bump into your mailman? If you do perhaps you could ask, I don't think going to the PO would be of any help if it's not insured, but most likely the same mailman comes everyday because that particular person is responsible for doing the postal walks in your area. I remember when we had a change of mailman, suddenly mail would come at different times and I'd have packages that need to be picked up without info notices, etc etc. If in the end you can't do anything complain complain and complain so at least they might recognize this mail man isnt doing his job properly.
You should also try your CC company, although I'm not too experienced in this area and wouldn't know whether they'd give you a refund.
I hope everything will work out and please update us on what happens. |

I'd call the CC company and ask them what your options are. I think you are protected for stuff like this. Please let us know what happened. |

Like the other ladies have said, I would put up a polite 'Please Return My Bag' flyer by the mailboxes with a picture of the bag.
Maybe someone picked it up and didn't realise that it wasn't theirs until they got up to their unit... maybe the box is sitting by their door waiting to be put back downstairs. Or maybe it's been returned to the manager's office because the person didn't want to just leave it out in front of the community mailboxes. Just trying to think positive. |

Weird. I thought someone had taken my fed ex package this weekend...
I'm sorry you have to go through this. I was wondering earlier today what to do, because I hadn't gotten my package yet. I wish you the best of luck.
At my old apartment they had a seperate key for the packages boxes. The mailman kept them, and stuck them in your box if you had anything. Which you would have to remember to leave the key in the package box, but it was worth it not having your stuff stolen. In case you wanna complain to your super, you might suggest this. |

Thanks for the support everyone! I hope to hear from the company soon (I emailed them after hours).
I figure that depending on the reply, I'll decide from there which way to go.
This was a mailman mistake. The thing is, our office is weird. It has terrible hours (9a-4p with an hour lunch) so I know it's not in the office right now anyway. It's probably in someone's apartment. I'm hoping they decide to do the right thing and return it (where they return it I don't know, the office doesn't deal with mail since they are DUMB! They are a very hands-off company since they are an HOA...they tell owners to deal with it and tell renters to take it up with owners).
Our mailman sucks...seriously. I posted in a thread last week that he didn't come a week ago Saturday or Monday. Some days he comes at 1p, other days not until almost 5p. It's very random and I'm never here except on Saturday. Unless I sit out by the mailbox, I won't catch him...though I've thought about leaving a not-so-nice note to him letting him know he gave my package to the wrong apartment.
It's just so unsettling knowing that someone else has my bag...paid for by my money...and I have to depend on their honesty and integrity in returning it. I'm so jaded after having worked in customer service and restaurant/serving...walk-outs on bills, trying to get something for nothing, returning items they actually used/wore/stole etc. that I think I've lost faith in humanity!
It makes me hesitant to order anything anymore...USPS was my salvation from UPS!!! Argh.

May I ask a question?
Does your package need a signature when recieving? If doesn't, I think USPS may have excuse for this matter....and, did you buy insurance? Err..as I know, USPS will pay for up to $100 when a package is missing. But I had no idea that in your case wether USPS would admit that the package was missing. |

There is no signature required for the delivery. If there is I usually get a notice on my door to pick it up at the post office.
And I don't know how I'd buy insurance on an order when the company doesn't offer insurance (the only place I've ever had the option of insuring a package was on ebay).
Come to think of it...I believe online merchants/companies should allow customers to insure their packages on checkout like ebay sellers do. Unless they replace it if it's lost...(oh, hoping they replace it!!! ) |

Hi,
I'm in a bit of a rush, so I haven't read the posts before. This happened to me a couple of years ago. I called UPS and asked them where they left it. They told me what appartment. I called the vendor told him as well. We finally got it back. Another thing you can do is disbute the charges. Call your credit card company and let them know it was never delievered to you. |

I don't know if this will help you. Last year I bought a pair of vintage dead-stock shoes on eBay. I checked the tracking almost daily. Then, one day, it showed that my package had been delivered. Well...not to MY house, it wasn't. So I went to the local post office. Got the run-around for almost a week. I emailed the regional or district Post Master. Next thing I know I have my shoes. Seems that when the package was mis-delivered, the DH of the household thought they belonged next door and set them on the steps. The next door neighbor put them in the garage and then promptly died. Point is that the district PM made my postman track the package down. It's worth a try.
True story. This is a very small town and I was able to find out easily where my package had ended up. |

Oh what a pity! But I really believe that USPS should pay for some of your lost at least. In US, if you haven't recieve your package, regardless wether you buy insurance or not, you would get $100 or less. (USPS is responsible for $100 lost at most, if your package is more than $100, only USPS would onlu pay for $100. But if your package is $80 for example, they would cover your whole lost. ) |

I would definitely tell your credit card compant that you did not receive the package. Once the vendor you placed the order with finds out that you stopped their payment, maybe they will take action with the postal service. Worth a try..... |

You have to put a claim in. The company that shipped the shoes to you can not do anything for you. Or they can help you with the claim being whether it is UPS or USPS. They are responsible to deliver to the address shown on the box. Your recourse in this is if you did pay with your credit card. Most credit card companies will stop payment to the company, however since the company did send it, it is not their fault that the delivery man did not deliver it correctly. I work for a large company that we ship out about a million units a year, we have this happen almost weekly from USPS, UPS or Fed Ex. The only difference, is they have a proof of delivery. Good luck |

I would notify the credit card company and the company that you bought the purse from -- both by phone call and in writing to each of them. I would dispute the charge based on the fact that you didn't receive what you ordered. I hope this works out for you! |

GOOD NEWS...I hope...
I heard back and they said I had to wait a week to a)see if it shows b) declare it as "lost."
After a week I need to call back and talk to them about sending a replacement.
Wow...replacement!!!
They are an AWESOME company!!!!
I'm keeping my emails so I can keep a record of my correspondence with them...so they know I contacted them right away about it and didn't wait.
Crossing my fingers...but I think this is good so far.
Meanwhile...I'm keeping my eye out for any neighbor that suddenly has a bag that I recognize |
