The McDonald family in MA lost everything in a fire last Saturday. I know them because they own Cape Wind Mastiffs. They lost 5 beloved mastiffs, including 2 pregnant females ... and everything they own. If you’ve started doing some spring cleaning, I can think of no better recipients. Here’s the story:
Dear Mastiff Friends,
For those that don’t know, the McDonald Family of Cape Wind Mastiffs in MA lost their home, belongings, and many of their Mastiffs in a tragic fire. See the article at http://www.capecodonline.com/cctimes/nightmarearticle3.htm. There has been an outpouring of concern from the Mastiff Community and desire to help. I have compiled some information for those that are able to assist with the immediate needs of this family.
I have spoken to Geri, and I know that the family’s immediate needs are great. They lost everything, except for what they were wearing when the fire happened. They lost 2 pregnant bitches, their other adult Mastiffs, who were all loved and cherished family members. The family is grieving the loss of their Mastiff friends the most right now. The McDonald Family consists of Geri and her husband Scott, and three children: CJ age 16, Katie age 14 (almost 15), and Courtney age 12. The girls are having an especially difficult time with the loss of their pets.
The quickest way that I could think of to get cash in to help the immediate needs of the family are to send money to Geri’s Paypal account. Her Paypal ID is capewindmastiff@comcast.net (which is also her email address) at http://www.paypal.com . I know that any amount of donated money would be greatly appreciated to help out with basic needs.
I also got the clothes sizes for the children & adults, for anyone that wants to send clothing:
CJ – 16 yrs, Mens Medium
Katie – 14/15 yrs – Girls size 16 or Juniors Size 3
Courtney -12 yrs – Girls size 13/Juniors Size 0/1
Geri - Misses Size 6 pants, and Medium Top
Scott - Mens XXL Top, 36/32 pants
CJ is also interested in scientific kinds of activities, as well as video games. Katie and Courtney love arts and crafts of any kind, and specifically love to draw, color, and paint. Courtney’s favorite color is pink, and Katie’s is purple. I imagine the loss of the children’s belongings and mementos will begin to sink in soon. I think that any small gesture to entertain the children’s interests would be so appreciated. Please send any clothing or items to Geri’s good friend (and Homer’s mom):

What a sad story! I just sent a box out today. I didn't know what to include, so I just sent a mix of stuff--- comic books for the boy, magazines, clothes, and sealed cosmetics for the mom and girls, and a few uplifting books and cds for the whole family. I just hope something I sent can bring them even a small amount of joy or comfort... |

Just sent some cash, will be loading up a box today. If everyone who hears/reads about this sends a little something I would imagine it would really help lighten the load for the parents, who have ALOT on their plates right now in addition to heavy, heavy hearts.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention!! |
