I have recently discovered Revlon Colorstay. Their clear is really thick and stays clear. I use it on my toes over a French Ped that I do myself with a subpar brand. I like the colors and it's a cheap brand so I need a really good top coat to keep it on.
It does take a bit longer to dry and harden but it's worth it IMO. |

I really like the OPI nail hardener in shiny clear. Not only does it strengthen your own nail but it's a nice clear nail polish too! ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I am a big big fan of witchcraft nail hardener. Strengthens my nails and give it a nice glossy coat. I paid about 9.99 for a bottle that lasts me quite a while. |

I like the Pro White Nail Polish of Alessandro, but I don't know if it's available in Canada or the US. It lasts quite good and works against yellow tones. |

I know this isn't exactly nail polish, but what about a clear UV gel? You can get it done at a nail salon. LCN is a great brand, but you can't order their products unless you work at a salon. IBD has cheaper, but still good UV gels that you can order online and do it yourself. All you need is a UV nail dryer. UV gel is great because it not only stays clear, it doesn't chip!

Could you give me some more information on this product. Do you apply it like nail polish - with a brush? What do you use to take it off? Why do you need a special dryer? Can you apply it straight on to natural nails? Thanks! |

You would really love Perfect Formula clear coat. Comes as a kit which is the best value over at QVC. You get the nail moisturizer, clear AND pink gel coat. I love it! And made by the 2nd largest nail company in North America which in the owner's opinion, Perfect Formula is the best on the market! Whats that telling you? |

Keliu, I will try my best to explain the product and process, but I’m a bit sleepy at the moment so I hope I don’t confuse you. There are two types of uv gels you might want to work with. Sculpting gels are thicker and are applied with a separate brush (looks like a small paint brush). This gel is good if you want a thicker barrier over your nail (more protection). You apply it with small strokes different from the nail polish method. UV gel topcoats on the other hand are thinner (looks even more natural) and you can apply it like nail polish. You can use them separately or together.
UV gels have the protection of acrylic and wraps, but are suppose to be better for your nails and look more natural. I believe they bend with your nail rather than crack so your nails don’t break as easily. The gel comes ready to apply so you don’t have to blend powder and liquid. You can apply the gel in layers to achieve a more polished look. The special uv dryer is made to work with the uv gel so it cures (hardens). The gel dries in about 3 minutes. Don’t leave it on for too long or you could damage the nail bed. Be warned you can’t soak off uv gels. The gel must be filed down in order to remove. The bright side is you can continue to get fill ins for a very long time before you have to redo the entire nail. My best suggestion is to have it done by a professional first to get a better idea of what you’re doing. They also have instructional videos for purchase. Below is a link with a short step by step guide at the the bottom:

If that seems like to much work leave it to the professionals. It’s a bit pricey, but your nails look fabulous. Especially if you get french tips (add white uv gel to tips). I hope that helps.

The UV gel was a big deal in nail salons for a while, but the ones where I go don't use it anymore. I still buy it occasionally from Sally Beauty Supply, and I have the dryer. It makes a nice, hard finish to polished acrylic nails, but if I apply it just to my own nails, it peels off fairly quickly. |

The best nail product I have found to remove yellow tones and stains on my nails from the use of vitamin C serum, is Leighton Denny Brilliance Serum. It's a bleaching product containing peroxide. It's supposed to work on your nails for five minutes before rinsing off and leaves your nails pink and bright.
A good transparent top coat which gives a lasting, mirror-like shine, is Seche Vite top coat from Creative Nails.
Personally I prefer to buff my nails with a chamois buffer and buffing cream. I think it gives a very natural look, and you don't need to worry about nail polish peeling off as soon as your hands get in touch with soap and water.
