Ok, first I will state my problem and maybe, hopefully, the kind people here will try to set me on a correct path.
Problem:
Besides my acne which has been mild around my face, on the sides of my nose it seems that there is a redness, more like sundamage.. and some people might say broken capillaries. But I am only 18it has become a little thick too, and somewhat bumpy and not smooth. I bought maderma for scar treatment thinking it might be a 'scar' but I am not sure if it will help, one problem I already found was that it gave me more acne along the edges of my nose making it seem more inflamed so i will have to stop it.
My daily regimine:
As for food and water intake, I drink 10 to 14 glasses of water per day on regular intervals. I eat very well, im a partial-vegetarian(only eating eggs and no other meats) and do NOT eat fried foods. I do not drink cokes, or eat cakes, sweets of any kind or any kind of junk food. My diet is very clean. I do eat a little cheese now and then, and milk and eggs etc.
Exercise:
Everyday I have started to bike 10 miles because I read that exercise can help your skin as well. I also do light weight lifting, but make sure I wash up correctly. I do it at night so I jump in the shower right away.
Regardless of all this it seems as though it only gets worse. What are some topical treatments for redness that I can buy at my local Wallgreens? Do they sell vitamin C? how does that work and how long does it take to take effect? I want to here advice based on personal effects. Should I stop working out? Should I stop the cardio?
I dont know what to do anymore, Ive given it my all in being strict as anyone can be.. But the effort, it seems, is being wasted. Would I have to go to the dermatologist for this? I am afraid my parents will not let me, so please do tell me some things I should get at my local wallgreens.. I would seriously apreciate the help because I want to get my life back on track as soon as possible please! |

poor you! I'm sorry that I can't help you as I tend to have the opposite trouble. Having said that I burnt my face very badly with an acid peel last week and used sudocreme which helped a lot. My daughter who also has acne also uses it and it helps her a lot when it's very bad, so maybe it is worth trying that...if you can't get that particular stuff, then ask your pharmasist for simelar stuff. In the uk we use sudocreme for nappy rash as it's basically zinc oxide. However, I am sure that lots of people here will give you better advice. Hope it getts better soon X |

I'm sorry for the tough time you're having with this.
It does sound like you're doing alot of the right things to help your skin. Though it seems like you're skin needs a product that will soothe the skin. At your age I chose the Aveeno products (at that time they were very simple now the line has many products). They did have a medicinal oatmeal soak that I used on my face to calm redness, soothe and also dry up pimples. I used it as a mask daily. I think they still offer this product.
That's the inexpensive alternative. Mario Badescu healing cream has alot of fans for redness/irritation in combination with acne. It's a little pricey for someone your age to afford but there are many who swear by it. Try to get a sample to see if it works for you.

It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Good on you!
The only thing I can think of is that perhaps your skin is sensitive? If so then something like Decleor Essential Harmonie cream would be nice but then again I don't think you should spend any $ without getting your skin looked at. If you have a good family doctor perhaps they might be able to have a look and tell you a bit more about what it could be? Or perhaps a trusted friend could recommend a good beautician? It's just that everyone's skin is different and there could be many reasons for what you're going through. With what you are describing it could be something like skin sensitivity or something like rosacea, and I'm sure there are many other things as well. So I think it's important for someone to actually examine your skin.
All the best,
